Current DS is .083 looking at a Tom Woods, for the new rear.

I recommend to go as thick as possible, even if you don’t plan to use the DS to slide over rock. This occurs to me on merely every trip when I play the fuck around and find out mentality, lol. Both my front and rear DS are 2.75x0.156

From my understanding, TW stopped the 1-piece DS because they found out its not vibration free as claim. TW still producing other Toyota DS

Beause the doofies that install them don't bother adjusting the pinion angle for the new angles that are created

I mean, I've run it twice.

If I do it again I'll be camping up there and hiking LB though.

Driveshafts approaching 70" long with heavy wall tubing are never going to be a recipe for success. They are rock anchors, will bend as soon as they look at a rock, and are super tough to balance. The two piece setup is better in every way.

Had to borrow tires (just a little smaller, but they are getting the job done), so things don't fall too far behind. New order for tires should go through today. Axles are still due some more cleaning up, and the internals plus e-locker need to be done. But it's coming along!

The YouTube channel LR TIME made a good video about drive/prop shafts which supports this. The guy on LR TIME is an industrial balancing machine salesperson/service rep.

Had some fun the other week. Need to do air bumps or something not rock hard. The truck performed great! Several hours of drift bashing and no casualties

Just about there… Will be a bit before I drive it though, as I need to get the exhaust redone.

Debating SASing my 4Runner. Nothing crazy like the Tacoma. Trying to decide what axles to go with. Are the 04 SD any lighter than the 05+? Would rather not clean up another pair of 05 and they would be overkill for what I need.

Not opposed to keeping the factory rear axle since its regeared with an ARB and just finding a front solution that’s economical... Planning to run 40’s, no trusses, full hydro, stock tcase for now.
