When all the windows are down there is more circulation when you are driving. It also acts as a vacuum for anything light in the bed of your truck. Kinda weird. Leaves and paper and stuff get sucked into the cab when driving.

The slider sometimes doesn't seal all that well. I've sprayed the back of my truck before with one of those carwash pressure washers, then got in to drive of and WTF! My interior was soaked. A solid back window would definitely prevent that. I'll bet that it would quiet the cab a little too.

For what it is worth, yes the sliding rear window is the exact same size as the no sliding window. If you have no experience taking out windows I highly recommend having a professional do it for you. I broke two windows trying to do a swap my self and after that said f%^& it and scrapped the idea. You can get it done pretty cheap at a glass shop.

+1, the solid will direct replace the sliders. There's a guy in AZ with a TRD Off Road PreRunner that did it.

Also, I like my slider on the AC because, doing 80mph with the windows down creates to much pressure on the side of my head (drivers) making it hard to hear the radio and such, with the window open it takes a lot of the turbulence out and makes a more comfy drive.

I like the solid window idea. For DC's, I wish they would have at least made the slider power like the other windows...it's useless to me otherwise...

Take it from someone who has spent enough money on replacing broken windows. If you are going to trade someone find a local shop and have them do it. That way if they break it they buy it. A sliding window is $240 on ebay. They are all really good quality windows and come tinted. I dont know how much a solid one costs since we always broke the sliding one before we had a chance to break, I mean remove, the solid one.

I was going to put a slider in mine because I was going to put a topper on it but bagged the idea when i saw a regular cab with a topper and didnt like the look.

Well, I may have got my wish.

I had to take the truck into the dealer this morning because of the sliding window seal popping out. Not repairable. They said they wanted to order me a new one so I asked for a Solid window, not the sliding one. Guy says nope, can't do it that way, whatever they replace has to be exactly the same part. So I ask to speak with his manager, and he must've said three times that "He's just gonna tell you the same thing I told you". So his boss the "Service Manager" says no as well but gives my the 1800 number to call corporate and open a case.

I came home and called corporate and explain the situation... I give him both part numbers (sliding window and non-sliding) and tell him that the price of the two different windows is the same, $827.27. He opened a case number for me, and agrees that this is not an unreasonable request on my part. He then states that the "Service Manager" should have called the regional manager to get a yes or no, not tell me to call a 1800 number...

I called back the "Service Manager" at the dealership and asked him to contact the regional manager with my request. He says he already had done so and was awaiting back a response.

So here I am, eagerly awaiting my response from either corporate or the manager.

Either way, my window is getting replaced.

    Too few to list.
Sorry, late reply. The one craigslist wasn't my truck but I doubt it was replaced. Probably parting out total loss.

Long story short. Got a new rear window, and it's SOLID! Took some coaxing, but I got it covered under warranty. I'll start a new thread with pics when I take some, gonna wait until lift is installed though.
