I thought the same for many years. Then I discovered silicone wiper blades. Now that they've been out a few years, the price is similar to regular rubber.

Seems like Piaa and RainX currently have the best reviews for silicone wipers. RainX are available locally and the same price as the Bosch Icon too. Might give them a go next time

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I swap complete wiper arms around all the time .

The springs in the arms do get weak with age. That could also cause your issue .

Last year I bought a pair of Rainx wipers at BJs. They were supposed to be a "premium" blade. The blades were terrible, always streaking and chattering. If the temp was below 50F they were also stiff and useless with snow. I replaced them with Bosch ICON. They are a very superior blade and are possibly the best I have had on any vehicle. I've only had them on about 6 months, so I don't know about longevity (hopefully they will last).
The only problem is their ridiculous cost, even on ebay/Amazon, but maybe you get what you pay for.

the blade chatter was super annoying as it skipped across the windshield... my obs f350 calls for 18-inch wiper blades... installed these new wipers on the tacoma... noting some visibility sacrifice due to smaller size... the chatter disappeared...
the tacoma wiper motor has less work to do with smaller wiper blades... wipers are held against the windshield by springs (designed to add tension) located in the wiper arm... it helps to have smaller wiper blades... just make sure to change the wipers out annually due to age concerns...

Had the same annoyance. I dumped $100 into blades PIAA, BOSCH, etc, they sit in their boxes on a shelf. I bought ASLAM $15-$20 blades off Amazon. Chatter gone.

This is what I use to remove my Dogs nose art from my back windows. I also clean my wiper blades with it IMG_8813.jpg

It's good but it's not make chatter go bye bye good. There used to be a little cleaning lady on the can, she's gone now. Kinda miss that.

I had a similar experience back before silicone blades came out. I needed a new pair for my work truck, had to get replacements from Napa. I figured since they get destroyed so quickly due to the excess dirt and oil from work, I’ll get the cheapest ones they had. Those cheaper economy line ones seemed to last much longer than the premium ones.

Now about 2 years ago I replaced with Walmart Michelin silicone blades. They’re still working perfectly except where they rub against one of the 15 or so rock dings.

Just this last trip to frozen Estes Park, upgraded to PIAA silicone wipers.
Sat through waiting for a closed interstate to open, frozen, ice covered time while waiting for gas and 16+ hours of snow and ice driving with them.
Super happy with the way they performed, 0 streaking or chattering. Well worth the price IMHO.

Worth the price if they work. I have a set, they skip terribly.

A lot of blade chatter is from motor oil that comes up from the road in the first 15 / 20 min of a rainstorm and messes us the finish on the glass. Normal glass cleaner in your windshield washer bottle will not cut through motor oil and the result is your wiper blades dancing around

For glass: A "super clean" clean up, followed by two coats of Rain-X has been best for me. I use white vinegar and rubbing alcohol and Windex to get right down to the glass surface. The vinegar acid works wonders on the sand pits.

I don't believe any of the blade materials work well in Arizona - sand, heat and sunlight kills just about any flexible material.

Saw it mentioned, clay bar helps a lot. Mine don’t chatter at all, ‘07 w/ about 180k. Clay bar a few times a year.
