I hope you were being sarcastic, lol...

Every car company hides the front-end of new designs before they are released. It would make the new model's debut pretty uneventful if there were already 100s of pics of it leaked. This has been going on forever.

I was being somewhat sarcastic, but considering this is a Gen 2.5 refreshing then there is nothing much to hide on this truck and they selectively hid IMO the ugliest part of it.

Yes, I know it's an automotive trend for huge grills - I sure don't like them especially how Toyota/Lexus is doing it. I like "timeless designs" that age well, like what Volvo does with their cars/wagons and the old 1990's Cherokee as examples.

The new Nissan stuff is NOT going to age well.

In other words, boring! lol. Just busting, to each their own.

I'm not saying I am in love with the new Taco design (or any car/truck design for that matter), but I do like the fact that Toyota continues to be "out of step," so to speak, with the sheeple mentality of "play it safe." You could spot the new 'Runners a mile away! And sure, it has the "pitbull/predator" look many find "hideous".... but IMO that's very cool, considering every other damn SUV or crossover on the road looks pretty much the same. I believe that's what they're trying to do with the Taco.

SR5 is matte black , the limited is a dark charcoal grey and styled slightly after the TRD Pro grill . . .

ah, thanks. i see the difference now. both the limited and sr5 grille do seem to be a bit nicer than the chrome ones. if i wind up with any of these trucks, i'm gonna rip that air dam off the bottom, haha, that's the only thing i really dislike.

2016 sport with SR grill-F.jpg 2016 Sport-F.jpg Found 2 MGM Tacoma's at the local dealer, one a SR5 and one a Sport. Did a quick PS to show the SR5 grill on the sport.

I saw a bad ass Tundra today that had a huge lift, aftermarket chrome wheels (may have been 20s), huge AT tires (I'm guessing 35s at a minimum), and it had the big chrome grill and rear chrome bumper. What made the huge chrome grill not look so bad (I'm not a big fan of chrome!) is that the toyota emblem was painted body color. The truck was quicksand, and the contrast with the chrome looked really good. The chrome wheels also had the center caps painted body color as well.

I wonder if something like that is a good idea for the chrome grill on the Tacoma TRDs. It would not make much of a difference on MGM, but on other colors such as white, quicksand, inferno, red or blue, I think it would look cool. Anyone want to try a photoshop?
