I recently had problems with the blower motor in my truck not putting out enough air flow. Thought the motor was on the fritz. Upon further investigation I found that the cabin air filter was drenched with water which was causing the reduced air flow. If the channel above your air intake is clogged with dirt or debris water running down the windshield in a heavy downpour can end up going in the air intake and water gets inside your truck. Even if there is no debris in the channel, water can still find its way in. Based on another thread I on found on Tacomaworld, I decided to do something about it. First I put some wire mesh over the air intake to keep rodents out. Then I fabricated a metal flashing to cover the intake and allow water to be diverted away.

Thanks for the write up! Have a feeling this is where the water on my passenger side floor is coming from.

I stuck a zip tie up the drain hose. Nothing felt clogged. Think I’ll blow the drain line out to be sure tho.

It is crazy that these tacomas have this issue. I put together a video on how to fix this issue with an old license plate and replacing the blower motor, resistor, and their harnesses. Hope it helps some of you with this problem!
