    Sleeping bag if/when needed.
    5ft, 6ft...easy day either way.
Pretty easy to set up camp, pretty easy to break camp.
Spent a few decades sleeping on a helluva lot worse so this is fairly fancy livin' for me....;)bed.jpg

Snagged a Topperlift Nomad myself a couple months back. With a sleeping platform entry and exit is a bit, er, awkward (picture the rhino scene from Ace Ventura), but for the cost, as well as the ability to quickly break down and leave, it can't be beat. Once you're in, sleeping on the Exped Megamat Duo is pure luxury.

I like it. I would need for it to have a bug-proof net door behind the ripstop door for nights down here. Mosquitos buzzing outside that mesh net door is just the white noise that good 'ol southern country boys were raised on. Heck, I might even figure out how to put that tent A/C on this thing. Here, hold my beer...

$75 of wood and hinges and bolts gives you the sexy Malvolio dirtbagger setup. Deploys in 45 seconds. Keeps the bugs out. Not a mess when winds get above 30mph:

this is a loosely set up Topper Tent.
1- Not waterproof and I got rained on.
2- Works best without a cot.
3- Sets up in less than 5 minutes.
4- The videos on their website/YouTube are not completely accurate.
5- Use a small (D-cell) battery operated fan (on low speed will last 3 nights or more), for humidity.
6- Hasn’t been tested in cold weather.
7- Hatch hinge leaks, so tarp or waterproof canopy is recommended.

I use the exact same Rightline that OP has in message #1.
Fits a little snug around rear taillights. There are 2 interior (orange) tailgate straps. If you do those 1st the door will close easier.
Setup w/ 1 person isn't bad at all.
It's weathered a couple hefty thunderstorms and held it's own without leaks.
Having access to the rear sliding truck window would be nice.
I think there are tents out there that do.?

I purchased some acreage to hunt but it is 2.5 hours from the house so needed a way to camp out. I already had a couple tents but wanted something off the ground due to critters (snakes), so I just ordered one of the Napier truck tents and it has worked out fine. I can pack all I need in the bed and setup camp fairly quick, and if need be, I can move the truck with it installed for short distances. They make a canvas tent (not Napier) which I may upgrade to if this one develops issues, but so far it has done a good job in the wind and rain. Here it's on my 2010 Tacoma, but have since replaced it with a 2023 with the same size bed which works out great for this setup.

looked at these, but they say they wont work without a carpeted roof. but I also didn't want to be the tester with stronger backed Velcro.
