    Help solve the mystery:

there's been an intermittent alert of some sort that occasionally flashes on the cluster. The problem is, it's so brief, by the time you glance down when it catches your eye, it's gone. It's happened 20 or 50 times, maybe more, and I just can't imagine the reason for or the utility in an alert that is so brief that you never see what it is. It is white, I have no idea if it's text or an icon, because again, it's so brief, milliseconds, that I've never been able to catch it in the past 2 months.

The alert pops up right below the road signs and outside temperature indicators. I can't place any certain conditions that triggers it so far.

It's in the circled area or maybe a little closer to the sign and temp readout.

    Maybe it's the ECO symbol?
None of the others should come on unless you are in 4WD.
Possibly Auto-LSD. But you'd need to turn it on....

Beats me. But it's the best I got.

It's an Off Road model. I don't think it has Auto limited slip. I would think that's an AWD Limited model thing. And i'm not sure where the icons in your post's photo are in relation to the road sign and temperature readout in my pic. It looks like the same place. I don't believe all the icons light up in a test cycle at startup like vehicles used to do. I'm going to have to rtfm.

Edit: It appears to pop up in the area of the left blinker indicator & the 4 HI icon. I can't imagine why it would be illuminating going down the road in 2WD at 55 mph.

Switch the display to the mono-dial view. Problem solved.

    I don’t know.

I actually watched that, & couldn't find anything that shed any light on it, and it didn't show the location of the lights, just what they meant. I also read the owner's manual pdf I found online, but nothing really helped. Now I'm a little concerned there's an issue like a short making the 4 Hi light illuminate intermittantly. I don't think that Toyota would program an alert to be that brief, so it steers you down the road of something being amiss.

The icons that are in that area are meant to stay on when called upon. You could hang a Gopro camera (or equivalent) off your neck as you don't want to be fixated on the dash chasing the demon. Would also help with the service writer.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I don't have a gopro camera or equivalent, but I agree with you; that would be the best and easiest way to capture it.

None of the icons in section 2-1 of the Owners Guide ring a bell?

The problem is that I've never been able to actually see what the notification is. It is in white, & in the area of the 4HI indicator, that's all that I'm sure of. If that's what illuminating, there is an electrical issue somewhere.
