I think this all boils down to someone put the cab and bed on the 4wd frame with a 3rz engine and just plugged the harness into these plugs

Pin 5 should be on the 2nd row.

Anything is possible, alot of unknowns on swapped vehicles when the person that did the swap is no longer available.

Looking on the wiring diagrams on the 2.4L the Circuit Opening Relay control wire does not go through the IK2 connector but on the 2.7L it does.

That could very well be your issue with the Circuit Opening Relay not turning on, you could run a wire from the E8 Pin 14 to the Circuit Opening Relay Pin 4 and see what happens.

You said you grounded the wire at the PCM and it come on I thought.
There's no intermediate connectors on the control wire for the CEL that I see.

So now we just need to see why the CEL isn't working and it's not communicating.

I am going to just go with my problem is solved on this thread and make a new thread about 2.4 to 2.7 swap information and see if i can get some input on what i need to redo on the wiring harness to make this work. I appreciate all the help and knowledge from you all that helped and shared knowledge maybe this thread will help someone else in a similar situation as it helped me figure out what is going on with mine.

Just thought i would put a update on the truck i had some others send me multiple year wiring schematics and i re-pinned a few wires that did not match up or just needed moved over to another spot that was empty. Gained a check engine light with key on and now i can pull codes on the truck. Only issues left is it is throwing a idle air control valve code and my 02 sensor bank 1 is not reading but other than that the truck is running and functioning again thanks for all the help

Bumping this thread as I've got a wiring pickle that's similar to OP's situation. Will spare the long story but does someone have a pinout of IK2 and IK1 connectors for 1995.5 3RZ Tacoma and a 2000 3RZ 4runner?

If only it were that easy but Toyota does not give us pinouts for any inline harness connectors, you have to pin them out yourself by going through all the wiring diagrams.

I went through that process on the 06 diagrams and did pinouts for every harness, junction, and junction box connector, it took me a month. I had always planned on doing one for the later 2nd gens but interest is pretty low and I haven't been in the mood nor had the time.
