Solved a pet-peeve and added some colour. Mountain Hatch tailgate surface went in tonight.

That material makes a good softener if u wanna hit something with a hammer and not mar the surface.

I’ll do everyone a favour here and report how this thing holds up in a few months or more. I’ve got a bigger trip in February that will be a good test.

things I’ll let you know (to remind myself later):

    colour fade?
    scratch resistance?
    clean up?
    does it always look dirty?
    are the cup holders useful?
did it warp or stay flat?
    did the screws come loose?

I know it won't help w your location but I'd be worried about sun fading / cracking. Maybe something u can test though is how slick it is in rain or snow

I will. Sun-fading won’t be a thing because it is under my canopy. Truthfully, it looks like the type of nylon that might see some sun-fade, but I’m not sure. Most thick nylon sees some fade, but Mountain Hatch does list it as containing “UV Inhibitors”, so maybe that’s not an issue.

I was thinking of getting another brands aluminum version, that is coated black, but I imagine it might not be as forgiving as this material here might be.

Crazy that it's still considered "food safe" with UV stuff in it. Wonder what it takes to get that title.

Op does your tailgate rail cap feel loose/slop? I didn’t see it in your photos but the oem has a raised thickness along the lip where the screws attach. Without this my rail cap could be shifted so to speak because the screws weren’t tight against the panel despite being tightened all the way. If any of that makes sense to you

if so I have a simple fix using rubber fender washers under the screws

Whenever that happens, I call it "shanked out". The bolt ran out of threads before it tightened on the part.

I have one of these as well. Seemed pretty reasonably priced in my opinion, and I love it
