I had an S20+ that sounded like absolute garbage when connected to Bluetooth in my 4Runner. I believe it’s an issue with the codecs they use. I’ve had no issues with a Pixel 2 XL, iPhone 7, Moto Z3 Play, and an iPhone 13 Pro. Only the Samsung sounded like garbage.

I started to assume that. Samsung uses their own equalizer and there seems to be a glitch in it somewhere.

My issue was more so just the phone sending a lower quality signal rather than anything with the equalizer. It sounded like a low quality MP3. Lots of digital distortion, compression, and muddiness. Almost as if the phone was thinking it was doing a phone call and using that same bitrate for the music. Never could fix it, even with developer settings unlocked and trying to manually force the bitrate and codec used.

I wish I could find something that worked. I have an iPhone and the built in equalizer on the iPhone (just has a bunch of different settings to choose from like “extra bass, rock, concert, jazz, reduced bass, dance, etc etc etc) that does absolutely nothing. I use Amazon Music Unlimited. Nothing makes any difference. Apparently from what I’ve read if I want to use one of the equalizer apps I have to download each song separately to convert it to mp3, then the equalizer will work because of the way the music files are on Amazon… too involved and too confusing for me :-(

That does sound like a pain in the ass. Hopefully some future update will change things.

Install a Beat-Sonic amp. I installed one in my 24 Pro and it makes a huge difference in sound quality. Easy do it yourself install videos online. Only $300.00. Worth every penny!
