Get you a can of Kano Kroil. Best penetrating oil you will find.

I'm not looking forward to dealing with this as I have to install my rear extended brake lines. Good luck Crom, post up your results.

Yup it sucks. After doing a lot of research on the subject, especially with the Tacoma, it seems clear to me that the factory assembled them with too much torque and with some moisture in the joint and some time they freeze together.

Once I get things apart, I'm gonna lightly grease the threads of the flare nut before reassembling. I know from experience, that for everything I've greased, no matter what I can get it apart in the future.

Yes. I tried that too. Thanks. :fingerscrossed: for Saturday.

For future reference, always use flare nut wrenches. More contact area, prevents this issue.

Yep. Might want to add "quality" to the flare nut wrench recommendation. Because it was a flare nut wrench that rounded the shoulders of the nut in the first place.

    And thanks @PerfectTekniq

I had this same problem on my 09. Ended up rounded off the nuts on the axle and said fuck it. Took it to a shop to just finish it all was around $150. Far better than having to replace the entire brake lines haha

I ran into the same issue a while back and used Kano Aerokroil and I think vice grips. I used it liberally and let it sit for a day, then used it again when I broke them free. It really is very good stuff.

get some air in a can. heat up the female side hot as you can. turn air in a can upside down and hit the male nut for at least 10 seconds. this will freeze it. remove male nut side...good luck...old school mechanics trick

Another tool that was recommended to me:

    VISE-Grip VIS4LW

The distinct shape helps to grab better. Fortunately my Craftsman flare nut wrench has been good to me, but I did use the VISE-Grip for other purposes and it's a really good tool. I'm not promising much given the level of difficulty you are having, but it's a more 'proper' tool than channel locks. It's a fairly teeny tool which makes me doubt it will work for you given the force you are needing to exert.

...and if this comes down to righty-tighty, lefty-loosey... well, at least you have a chance to make your thread famous ;)

Bummer. As much junk as I've worked on, here in the heart of the Salt-belt, never had this issue. Flare nut wrenches and regular wrenches all that was used... along with penetrating oil.

Vice grip em and torque on em
