Nothing fancy, yet. Weathertech mats front/back + their mud guards, some reflective striping and custom carpets on the storage bin lids underneath the jump seats.
    Tape is temporary at best.
The plugs from Home Depot/Lowes are less expensive and easily removed if the need ever presented itself (stuff got full of mud and needed cleaning out, etc...)

Tacobella and Bob1946, I owe you each a case of your favorite beer. I admit to being anal about rattles, squeeks and humming noises, but I was trying not to get ignorant over this hum. I just KNEW it was something like this! You have saved my sanity. Like one of the postings above, I was trying hard not to regret trading my 2011 TRD Off Road for the 2016, but this was driving me nuts because I drive a 5 mile stretch of road a couple times a day where the speed is about 45 mph---where the hum is the worst.

I ran right out after reading your fix and taped the holes like you said and went for a ride on said stretch of road. The sound was greatly diminished but, being anal, I could still hear it faintly. By feeling around on the control arm, I found three more holes, one on top and two on the bottom, but OUTBOARD of the shock mount. I taped them to death and took another ride. THE NOISE IS GONE. Thank you. Life is good.

Thank God I found this forum. I just traded my 2013 Tacoma for my 3rd Tacoma a 2016. I had awful problems with wind noise with the 2013. After many trips to the dealership and much frustration they finally got it fixed (at one point they told me I didn't know what trucks sounded like and this was normal till I informed them I had had a 2007 Tacoma). I have only had this 2016 truck a couple days now and could not believe it when I heard the wind noise. 1st I was in denial then I wanted to cry how could this be happening again. I will try your solution and report back, I pray it works as we are going on a 4 day road trip soon. Thank you for all your investigating!

just wanted to revive this for my observation.

our Tacoma has a front air dam. never had the howling at 35+. once we removed it and went on a highway trip about 55 miles down the road at 70-73 mph (went to pickup a german shorthair pointer puppy), the howling was extremely pronounced.

just thought I would add that for those that have the front air dam and thinking of removing it.

Slight howl showed up after I removed my air damn also. But, I like it off and plugs took care of the noise.

Thank You!! 40k is a big purchase for me so I was a little pissed off about the sound . I'm not very "mechanical" but this thread and easy to follow instructions cleared this issue right up. Taped over the holes as a temporary fix, will plug tomorrow. Thanks for everyone that researched and resolved the issue...(dealership was no help)

Crawling under my truck today with a roll of tape. I am having the same issue around 40-45 mph, I hear this whistling and I thought it was the nerf bars I had installed. Anxious to see if this does the trick. I will report back with my success
Update 7/23/16. It works! Amazing that someone figured that out. With all the possible noise makers under your truck, that someone identified those holes as the culprit. Should I be concerned about trapping water in the control arms? I hope Toyota comes out with a more permanent fix. Like a cap that has a scoop on it and still allows moisture to escape. I guess I will inquire when it goes in for it's first service around 5k. A big thanks to this forum, I am no longer howling.

I installed nerf bars after the fact. No difference, its the holes in the control arms.

I plugged the holes per the TSB using the OEM plugs. Whistling is gone @ 30-40 mph....but now the ocarina control arms whistle right at 55mph!! Sigh.... Maybe need to plug more holes to change the harmonics? Or is something else whistling?

Eeek, thanks for the tip, just read through your whole thread, not good to hear though. I'll have to bring it in for them to isolate the noise. I only have about 1400 miles.

Anyone have the howl with the trd sport or does the front air dam deflect the air?

I had it. SR5 has the air dam as well. I just taped mine up and will eventually just purchase the TSB plugs myself instead of dealing with the dealership.

Just put the Hillman 9/16", 11/16" in front left side......no more noise or whistle sounds....Placed one 9/16" and one 11/16" on right side.....Left the first hole on angle open and the last one open on the right side.....also, the control arms are the same on both sides.......mine was made in Baja, Mexico 7/16
