[SOLVED] Howling noise between 35-45

This morning I taped up my 2 on bottom, and 1 on top, on driver and passenger sides.

2016 TRD Off Road. I have had the truck for 3.5 years. The truck is pretty noisy overall, and especially the KO2's on it which now have 45K miles on them and are much noisier than when they were new. The tires are very beat up from a lot of off roading.

So I can't say for sure if I hear any difference, since the noise from my tires is much louder than the noise described in this thread and in the sound clip that was provided.

Will see after a few more days of driving if there is any notable difference. Not to mention that ambient temperatures play a big part too. Here it is currently daytime highs of 48F, and my truck is always a lot noisier when it is colder and especially so for the tires.

 

Toyota has a TSB for this. They are plastic plugs that you can put in the holes… been resolved for years.

 

Was/Is there one (TSB) for the 2nd Gen?

 

I know a couple of TSB issues were completed by the original owner in the first 1.5 years he had the truck.

I have not bothered to look at any TSBs since I have owned it. It is primarily used off road, and I beat the snot out of it. As long as the doors and wheels are not falling off, good enough. My 4th 4x4 in 35 years, I am not too picky about them, all were used as bush trucks. I expect them to be noisy given how hard they are used. I decided to try this one since my tires are so noisy, wanted to see if this might be contributing. Did not notice any difference. Not going to the dealer, tape will stay on.

 

anyone know where to buy some cheap plugs that fit? what size?

 

Is it just me or does anyone else not hear anything unusual in the provided sound clip?
