That was a very detailed response, thank you (seriously)
Props to the OP, I think that it's a victory against the trolls to have found a solution to a problem even after being road blocked to the point of having to deal with it outside the forum. I think it needed to be mentioned in the first post. I would have.

could be very minor differences in production of the part. could be something as simple as not noticing it until it was mentioned. hell, could even be the way the wind blows where he is compared to others (my windshield howling on my '11 only seems to happen when wind is blowing from the south and I'm headed eastbound on the highway).

Yeah I was gonna say some nylon plugs are pennies on the dollar at the local hardware store. Might be able to find something to fit.

I'm glad you got to the bottom of the issue. I've noticed the sound in mine but it's just so faint to me that I've got no problem tuning it out when it's at its loudest. I guess I got lucky that mine, when it happens, can just be drowned out by the sound of the ac running or by wind coming through a cracked window.

I just noticed it today, with the windows down. I can't hear it otherwise. Thanks for all the research boys.

Great job guys. Thank you. I still haven't heard it on mine, but I may just have "old ears". I looked, and definitely have the holes in the arms.

They ARE marked in RED tape in the pictures
That's why I used Red tape so people can see where it goes.

HA Trolls.... I don't see them.and for the past few months have gotten along quite well without them.Go figure.. I have no respect for them. All they want is to top each other disrespecting other members. They lost credibility with me and a few others who took this issue offline.

We fixed this despite Toyota telling me it was definately mechanical (driveline)

When I first heard and measured it, I knew it was harmonic turbulence but they are the "experts" That is when Bob and I decided we did not want to accept that 100% So we looked at other possibilities.......

I am glad it turned out to be what I first thought it was and was hell bent on finding, fixing, and sending the results to Toyota who claimed there was no issue, who will now offer a permanent solution. We did not want a mechanical issue Toyota would not step up to. Although he was going in a different route.

The holes that are taped are ABOVE those that will drain.I tried taping all the holes which works but drainage was an issue. Thankfully we did not need all the holes stopped up.

Hopefully Toyota's answer will be plugs. I am not going to measure the holes. I am happy with the tape. If someone else wants to measure the holes and offer a link to plugs I would surely appreciate it as would others,

I am not looking to do anything "permanent" until I see Toyota's answer. I could have filled it up with Insulation foam, There are a lot of ways to cover those holes but we chose the easiest to unwind if and when Toyota has a real solution.

People are STILL chasing noises. Some claim from mirrors, others claim its the door, or the rear window seals, Cabin Vents, Everyone was chasing their own noise. The wind noise I have now is quieter than the 2015 I had. I enjoy the truck again. It's a great feeling to have solved the only issue I have. Others have much worse issues they are dealing with,

This noise was specific and those that had it KNEW they had it. It was constant and predictable and was not white noise in as much as a pitched howl that in worse conditions could sound like a bearing going bad. We eliminated the bearing by loading it and unloading them. Toyota said it was driveline related though....Well they were wrong. Our initial thoughts were right.

Thanks for the info. I have the noise occasionally that goes away when I have ice/snow buildup under truck,, so I guess the ice was plugging the holes up temporarily.

I'm getting ready to make a 3k mile trip. Props to @TacoBella for this post. That was going to drive me nuts. I'll be taking a roll of gorilla tape with me to be sure to have tape on hand in case I need to really.

As far as trolls..... They can suck it. We lose too many constructive threads to guys and gals who have BS opinions about stuff they have no reason commenting about.
