Fingers crossed for this to be the final fix.

I built interior platforms/storage boxes for all my previous Toy trucks. Back in the day they called them "carpet kits". It was nice to just crawl in and hit the sack. In our elderly years it's just too confining, specially with "more" frequent midnight nature calls.;)
For the Taco we are very happy with the "BedRug".
In a pinch (bad weather or high winds :tumbleweed:) sleeping inside is still an option and the padding is easy on the knees.

Glad to see you checked out Glass Butte. Good to see someone else with boxes of rocks:der:. Lately we have been collecting Agate. It's the new Obsidian.

Whoa!! Eric just found a nice looking '02 4Runner w/only 60K!! Decent price too! And black! Could make a perfect sister for the Taco! Not sure if we can swing it just yet, but nice to at least see that it IS possible to find what we want when we are ready. Sweet!! :)

Oooh, those are very cool looking! Have you guys ever been down to south central Oregon? I've heard there are some really unique gems/stones to be found in a certain area down there, forget what/where exactly. Where did ya pick these up?

Yep, you're not the only one loony enough to be excited about carting around boxes of rocks in your Taco bed! :der: Still have the giant bin sitting on our front porch, neighbors keep asking what the hell we brought home this time. :D

What other hidden gems do you know of in the west? Tell me all of your secrets DP!! Better yet, get yourself out to Oregon and let's do this backcountry Toyota caravan plan!! :D

TW, here's the plan. Everyone is meeting up in eastern Oregon, then we will set up our 1st base camp at Succor Creek. Koditten and hetkind will be in charge of the beer/whisky tents. Keakar is making moonshine and N'Orleans food. Logistics, mapping, & planning is me (scared yet? don't worry, DP will really be in charge of this area, I'm just going to pretend it's me!) :D. Day trips to nearby crazy cool scenic stuff on some seriously fun backroads (Honeycombs, Leslie Gulch, Chalk Basin, Three Forks, Alvord Desert & Hot Springs, Steens Mts, Kiger Mustang road - that last one may have been what did in our shocks/struts :D). Hiking, fishing, biking, rock climbing, photography, boating opp's everywhere along the way. Walkie talkies so we can smart ass each other the whole time while on the road. :D Giant bonfires every night with tons of good food, cinnamon rolls and plenty o' beverages. Lots of Waylon blasting, although I promise I will take turns on music preferences. We can listen to something else for 5 min each evening. :D Who's ready to do this???????? Toyota party in the Oregon outback!!!

    Yeah.
I would love to spend a week getting there, a week hanging out, and a week finding my way back. Or maybe not finding my way back. Probably not gonna happen anytime soon, sadly.

Oh c'mon TenBeers, ya only live once! Your Taco wants to LIVE NOW!!!!!!! Besides, how can you resist trying Keakar's moonshine? You are 10 beers after all! :drunk:

    :D

PS.....just caught onto your meaning with that cute little comment about finding your way back .........that's it, you are getting a map that I will make especially for you, while everyone else gets a map that DP made :rofl:JK :D

Oh Mod, you know we love you! Of COURSE you are invited!!! What tent do you want to run?

K, I don't have coordinates. I use detailed paper forest/BLM maps. Not kidding. We bought a fancy GPS at REI a few years ago, and just never use it. I like old school stuff. I still have a flip phone and don't know how to send a text. This concludes my true confessions for today. :D

BTW, you down for running the liquor/beer tent?

    http://wildowyhee.org/photos/chalk-basin

Here's a link for Chalk Basin. We've not been there yet, but really want to. The roads to it sound completely brutal from what I've read, plus you almost have to spend the night (camp) there because of the distance/slow driving speed from any sort of lodging. Didn't brave it last time when we went to southeastern Oregon, but really want to in the future. Looks so beautiful there!! I hear there are a fair amount of rattlesnakes in that area too......guess we'll just bring extra moonshine to chase the pain for that leg of the tour?

EDIT: Whoa, just realized that link talks about lots of the places we like over there that we wanna hit on our Toyota Eastern Oregon Tour. Haven't been to 3 Forks yet, that road is supposed to be pure hell also. But Honeycombs, Leslie Gulch, and Succor Creek were blow your mind beautiful, with roads that were decentish. Leslie Gulch is where we had a couple of bighorn sheep walking into the road right in front of the Taco. Then the little rascals were playing peek-a-boo with us while we hiked in that area. It was crazy!! They are such neat looking creatures. Honestly I know nothing about geology, except that there are some seriously beautiful geologic formations around this state!!

Taco side by side with my grandpa's old tractor, in southern Illinois. Wonder which one would win the race? :)

I love the little camper trailer. My compliments to the builder. I am kind of freaked out about all the weird adds that are associated with that site, though.

I got all the work I need just doing my utility style trailers. As I type I have 4 that need to be built in the next month. Gonna be an ass kicker just to get them done in time.

I would love to "play" bartender. The only problem...I would be more of a customer then a bar keep. Which is not really all that bad:)

Ive been here lol, the first thing i do every am is look at yahoo news on my phone~ the 2nd is look at this thread :) .. Glad you got it all sorted. Looks like you got a couple really good techs on it now. Definantly keep those guys in your circle, dealing with all this you already know theres a ton of parts changers and so called techs out there. Most just try to get your $$, get you out the door as quick as possible then spin you like a top if you have any issues..
Hard to find guys with determination and diligence of this caliber.

Yeah, that site is kinda weird, agree!

Hmm, you are right about the customer vs. bar keep thing. We will have to keep tabs on our inventory before we let ya at it. Or, we could just bring at least 10 times more alcohol than what we think we'll want, this way we will be covered no matter what? I bet I can guess which approach you would choose :D

Aww, really? Wow, hadn't seen ya in a while so I thought you disappeared on us! You've been in this thing for the long haul!! So what role do you want at the Toyota Tour? Food? Drinks? Fire? Snake/cougar watch?

You guys going to trust the maps I make? ;) Don't worry, I am almost as good at mapping as I am at choosing where to have my engine replaced!

I swear using a GPS makes you brain dead!!

I talked to a women a few years ago to ask just where there shop was " I don`t know how to tell you I just turn where my GPS tells me to "

I was one block away and if not for a bigger building could have seen where I was going It was not really fair She had only worked there 4 years .

I agree for the most part, I disagree when it comes to using coordinates. I like that feature the best.

Yeah, I'm guessing if we actually took the time to really learn how to use all the features of the GPS, we'd probably love it and use it a lot more. Just too lazy to learn it all I guess? Easier to just keep using the same old tattered paper maps, since I've been doing it that way for 10 years. We've laminated the ones that we really use a lot. Also, been pleasantly surprised by the detail offered in just a plain old atlas of the state. Not quite enough detail for a place like Chalk Basin, but that atlas has gotten us out of a nearly being lost situation more than I expected it to. And we found a bunch of really detailed maps for free of that southeastern OR area on some mapping site, I think I have them saved somewhere.

@koditten , would your wife be up for a trip like this ya think? Would you take your Taco or Tundra? (hint, hint: TACO!!)
