It starts correctly now, thanks to the best dealer tech ever.
After what we went through and all the research I did on this problem, I am convinced that a lot of people have this issue. It does make me wonder if there's some kind of design flaw with the injectors, or maybe that the fuel blends these days make the injectors more prone to problems. But for us, I still believe that something changed with our injectors during the engine swap, because there really is no other logical explanation for why we suddenly developed injectors leaking badly enough to cause a starting issue at the same time as the engine work was done.

But whatevs, everything is good now!! :)

    1STJEN,
I actually have read all pages of this thread, and I'm really happy for you guys! However, I'm sad for me and many others here on TW who have followed along every day. You were the intrepid heroine fighting the evil hard start monster... We rooted for you and like a good book this story had unexpected twists and turns! Now it's over... I have to get a life of my own! My 2nd gen just does its thing and doesn't complain (NICE) but boring. I have been to Leslie Gulch, as a takeout spot after running the Owyhee from Rome down the canyon. I agree, it's fantastic country! Enjoy your good as new Taco!

I think its just the life span of the injectors, brake pads only last so many miles and no one expects them to last forever yet we think of something like an injector that is hammering itself closed several times a second should somehow not need replacing after 100k miles of use?

cudos to them because them little buggers are tough but aren't we over expecting of them to go over 100k and not have issues?

I think a combination of age and ethanol would no doubt lead to injector problems just a thought.

Glad this saga is coming to an end Perhaps after the final chapter is finished you should write a book!!

Give you something to do besides build your door to door bakery delivery business.

Just a thought were the leaking injectors inspected to see if a cause for the leaking was evident just curious ??

Hi Jen and Eric. I have to go to Nissan to pick up parts this morning and they open at 8, so I plan to be at work about 8:30-9ish ish. Your civic is parked in the shop and the key is on my toolbox (green tag) if you get there before me.

Sweet, sounds like the Civic got pampered! Thank you!! We'll plan to arrive between 9 and 10.

Are you putting your SC on your 4Runner today? Do we get to "meet" the heroic 4 Runner that "saved" the Taco with its injector loan? That would be very cool! :)

No 4Runner today, it's in the driveway on sabbatical (it will take me forever to put it back together). I have a small fleet of Toyotas to drive... Sienna, Corolla, Tercel 4wd

Wow, what a nice post! Thank you! I've really enjoyed writing on this thread for a bunch of reasons, so it is very cool to hear that it's been that interesting for some people!! Don't worry, I don't think I can let the thread die, I would have withdrawals!! I will find some way to keep it going and even try my best to keep it interesting. Thinking we'll need other topics besides rocks and dog bandanas though

Leslie Gulch/eastern Oregon is the perfect topic!! I could talk about that area all day and night! So beautiful. Can't believe you rafted the Owyhee! We wanted to try it but we were scared - it sounds like it's pretty challenging in some spots! Wait, so that means you floated past Chalk Basin then, right? If you started in Rome and ended at Leslie? Did you take a billion pics? I am jealous!! Then there's some old farm on the east side of the river around there, Birch Creek or something, right? Tell me all about your trip through there please. :)

Lucky you!! Having a fleet like that would definitely be a nice perk of working for Toyota!!

We are really hoping to buy a used 4 Runner soon, and last night we realized, WAIT! We can ask noahpete to look them over if we find any we really like! I know we will be looking for a 3rd gen like yours. I need to do some research on them, I don't know much except that certain ones are basically identical to the Taco except for the shell - that's what we want! :)

I agree Keakar, the injectors have a big job and they don't get the love they deserve it seems. :pout:Poor injectors. :( I just think it's weird that you hear of so many Toyota owners having the hot start problem. Although maybe other car companies have it just as much and I just don't realize it since I wasn't searching for them. And of all the people having a hot start problem, it's anybody's guess as to how many of them are caused by injectors vs something else. Who knows, I am just happy mine is resolved :)

The non Taco cookies were supposed to be 4 Runners, but they kinda look like this bad boy instead, don't you guys think?

Thanks Wyoming! I know, writing a book would be super fun! But it would be even more fun to just keep running my mouth on here and entertaining all you TW folks! :D

I dropped the injectors off yesterday at the place that serviced them in January, and filled him in on what's happened and asked him to run them for curiosity's sake. He said he would run them Monday and call me, then without me even bringing it up, he said he would probably refund us at least some portion of what we paid him, which was super nice. Mostly I am just so curious to see what the results are. It's so bizarre, makes you really question whether servicing injectors is ever good enough or what? But I know plenty of people do that, ourselves included, and all is fine afterwards. We had ours serviced by another Toyota dealer in 2007, and they were fine after for all these years since. Which is why it still doesn't add up to me that they suddenly began leaking enough to create a starting problem when they were serviced by the engine folks. Sure, they had endured lots of miles and wear and tear and crappy ethanol fuel, but just seems strange that they'd all give out within the same ~4 month period, right after being serviced. Will be interesting to hear the results on Monday.......

Can't believe I get to do this :burnrubber: today in the Taco!!!!!!!!!!!! What a great feeling to wake up to every day now!! :)

Something tells me we'll be having that same argument daily for a good long while.........but I'm not worried, cuz I lovemytacolots and no one is taking it away for even a second now!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D She is one bad ass beast again, so fun to drive her now, knowing the fuel issues are straightened out!! Such a bummer that it's raining here this weekend, we are dying to do nothing but constant ROAD TRIPS!!!!!!! :burnrubber:

We got to pick up the Civic INSIDE the Toyota dealer!!! That was a real trip, seeing my little OLD red Civic sitting inside there. Probably the most exciting moment of her senior years :) Had to be the oldest/highest miles car in there :D Best paint job too
