I hope this vehicle works out you guys!! Freaking out!! Always wanted a 4Runner, even way back in the early 2000's. Couldn't afford one back then, when the 3rd gens were still fairly new and therefore more expensive and I was younger/more broke. Then we found and fell in love with the Taco, so I never really thought about 4 Runners again all these years, til now. I finally get one, sweet!!!! Seriously hoping hard that this works out. It is pretty, he emailed me a pic. Looks really nice. : )

Don't waste time with the gasoline. Too easy to trace by fire inspectors.

All you need is a a bag of Freetos and a lighter and I know you have a lighter. Stuck the freetos under the dash and light. They burn awesome! Oops, I dropped a fag and the chips lot off and the car followed. Car interiors burn very, very well. If you saw how fast and hot they burn, you would never smoke in a car again.

With that said, I'm with Eric. I want to see the little world beater come back to life for a couple more years. Oil is cheap and you don't have to change it it if you keep adding oil.

Did some homework and found out that our regular bank (one of the major ones) does not do auto loans on anything older than 7 years!! Wow. That's kinda crazy!! Although I suppose some might say that's smart. Personally, I think they are missing out on a whole bunch of good business with that policy. Whatevs.

BUT, fortunately I dig some digging and got recommendations from a few trusted sources on a local credit union. Sounds like they could offer us a good rate (3.9% on a 13 yr old vehicle, not bad!) with minimal fuss (online application? OK!) and so far, great customer service.

Eric said the 4 Runner peeps are supposed to get back to him with more info on Monday. I think he emailed them and asked for the VIN. I hope we don't scare them away before we even get to make an offer with too many questions/too much eagerness!!! Thinking we've already blown it with the whole "pretend you're not interested to get the best price" approach. Oops. :D

PS: And I didn't even waste any $ on trinkets!! Kept the neighbor company for a bit though, which I think made her day. Would be pretty lonely to live alone when you are elderly, I think even just a short conversation probably goes a long way. There, good deed for the day done, now I've earned an extra glass of whiskey tonight! :D

Just called Eric with the update about the credit union loan situation. He is emailing the peeps to ask for the VIN and give them his cell to get this 4 Runner party started!!! :burnrubber:

:fingerscrossed:Cross 'em for me TW, this could be the perfect vehicle to replace the Civ!!!

@koditten , who knows, maybe we can even keep the Civ in addition to the new 4 Runner, then we can just keep stocking up on cases of oil and treat it like an experiment!! I can start a thread titled "how long can a civic engine go with massive leaks?" :D

Hell, if Eric wants to keep driving the POS, what do I care? I definitely don't understand it, but hey, whatever floats his boat! I'm happy as long as we either replace it OR get something else in addition to it, for peace of mind/back up transportation in case something else falls apart on us. See, I DID learn something from the Taco experience! ;)

Jen if you knew how easy it is to pull that motor and reseal it, and how cheap the parts are, you would do it just for the experience!
WTH, it's been good for 17 yrs, reseal the motor, could give you another 17, for cheap!o_O

I understand the attraction of having a work vehicle. My 04 is the back and fourth rig at our place.

You can save money by taking the used oil out of the Toyotas and running it in the Civic. It don't need new oil.

While you guys have been screwing around on the I bet, I was able to get my hood painted nd installed. I'm a little missed at FedEx. I found some pretty good dents in this new hood. If Of cou, I couldn't see them until I got the first coat of paint on the thing. Can't send it back now. Fortunately, white hides imperfections.

I tossed in the pic of the wife's truck, since I have not had a chance to snap a shot with all three. The weather is to be great tonight, so I got permission to park it outside.

I'm confused. When did you all get a 3rd truck? Have you had 3 as long as I've known ya?

By the way, gorgeous!! Jealous!! And good job on the hood buddy!

Question for 4 Runner peeps out there in TW, and I'm thinking we might have already covered this (apologies if so) - does the clearance look low to you guys, or is it just those running board things? Those can be removed right, to gain more clearance?

pull the motor and let the local machine shop freshen it for you...far cheaper than another truck and will give you a decades worth of service. Been down this road before.
