Thanks Keak, but it's gotta have 4 doors. And I'm gonna be picky about the blue too. That looks silver to me.

Not sure what the hell Honda decided to do with colors, but lately it seems they offer 10 shades of grey, 10 shades of silver, and 10 shades of beige. WTF??????????????? :rant:Hell, I'd almost take red again over that crap!! So blah looking, when they are all lined up together on the lot and they are ALL grey/silver/beige. Yuck. i think that's about when that mid life crisis feeling hit me at Honda, and we got the hell outta there. Surely we can find a black one, or they used to have this beautiful teal color, which is the color I always wished the Civ was.

And don't even get me started  on my Toyota rant, about why the hell did they super size the Tacos and 4Rs when every single person I've ever talked to prefers the old style of each???????????????????????????????? GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I hope like hell that both companies have marketing peeps that read these threads and see what the people want.

WE ARE THE PEOPLE AND WE WANT TEAL CIVICS AND 3RD GEN STYLE RUNNERS AND 1ST GEN STYLE TACOS FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

PS: We saw the MOST BEAUTIFUL 1st gen Taco last night, in this BEAUTIFUL teal color. I don't know if I've ever seen that color before on a Taco!! Certainly not often if I have. Anyway, Eric (jokingly) asked me if we should follow them and see if they'd sell, and for a second I actually considered it.......

You guys ever see them in that color around where you all live?

because they get a bunch of rich or fairly "well to do" yuppies in a room (they ones who dont mind overpaying for things) and ask them what they like and they always say "bigger is better" and "its a truck so mpg doesn't matter" then the follow up with if it has what I want the way I want it price doesn't matter to me" and that's how we end up where we are today.

just because they sell less small "compact" trucks then big trucks and cars they think they are not popular enough so they need to be redesigned. its all about every product they sell should sell "x" million vehicles every year or you have to redesign it or stop making it. I fully expect the taco to be discontinued in the next few years so all you have is the gas guzzling tundra.

that's why GM stopped making the Colorado and canyon models, then they figured out people were buying tacomas instead of their full sized trucks like they thought would happen, so they started making them again this year.

what I want is the 1980's sr5 Toyota mini truck that gets 30mpg but we will never see that again.

if they can make 40 mpg cars, then can sure as hell can make 30 mpg rear wheel drive trucks that do the things trucks do but they "choose" not to make them

That's what I keep hoping will happen with Toyota. That they'll see how ridiculously high people are selling their used 1st gen Tacos for and they'll start making them again.

Although, at the rate they price their new stuff these days, we'd have to wait at least 5-10 yrs after they came out to afford one. So we'd still wind up driving a Taco that is old!! :rofl:OK by me though - just wish they'd start making them again STAT!!

and black looks dirty "all the time" unless it stays parked in garage under car cover

and its going to be 150 degrees inside that thing all summer long enough to burn your skin if you touch it.

have you ever owned a black car? they are nice to look at but a huge PITA to live with

The fix on the Honda is going to be simple, master cylinder, failed line or actuator, at most, a couple of hundred...I think you are being unreasonable and setting yourself up for more debt.

No way. Yes, it's not a simple clear cut issue, there are definitely arguments to be made for both approaches. But even if we repair everything, including getting new tires, to the tune of probably $1K or more for all of it, we are still left with a 22 yr old car that has a ton of miles and a billion cosmetic flaws. And it's not getting any younger or lower in miles. And it's not fun to spend every other weekend googling how to fix the latest thing that broke on it, when we don't even like the car anymore. I would never feel safe taking that thing more than like 15-20 miles at a time, because it's just too damn old and worn out to trust to go any distance. And playing the guessing game of "what will break next?" is really fucking old. It's time to let it go, and that's it. No longer even makes financial sense to keep dumping money into repairs for it. IT'S OLD.

:amen: now that's what you should be looking for, a camry is better though, a little higher class interior, the corolla is the economy version of that car with less comforts.

and you keep your mechanic buddies here to help you with issues and at the dealership too

Howards right you know, that Civic of yours would be cheaper to fix than replace!
And go get some good seats for it from the junkyard...

Sounds like the way a Civic is to an Accord, huh?

If given a choice, I'd rather save the cash and skip the Accord/Camry luxuries and go for the better MPG and lower price.

And I have a really dumb thing about Camry's. I can't tell you what it is :censored:, but I will not get a Camry ever.

Dude, you guys don't understand. You almost have to see the car and ride in it yourself to understand. We have dealt with SO MANY issues with this car over the past 17 yrs, and I am just done. No more. I want something that does not have constant issues!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy crap Keakar!! You found my car!! That blue Corolla is only $5K!!! It's old and has a hefty amount of miles, but being the type of car it is it's probably got at least 10+ good years left in it!! Wonder if it has a shady past.............checking carfax now............

Hmmm, says it's only had 1 owner that lived around here the whole time (no salt). And no accidents reported. Hmmmmmmm. Had planned to stick with reputable new dealers, since I have just a few "trust" issues with all things related to vehicles these days (imagine that?) but this is so cheap and cute too!
