It starts correctly now, thanks to the best dealer tech ever.
And 2 of #19 on the 2nd diagram maybe? The outboard boot set? That's gotta be the outer CV boots right? If I have part numbers then I can just shop them online and really narrow down the best plan.......

wow, those diagrams look like it fits on the arm shaft sticking up like a stabilizer bar, that looks nothing like the video at all and seams very straight forward and easy to replace "if" you have access to all the bolts

yes you need #8 and #9 and two of #19

google Honda then part # and do the same on ebay

OK, I THINK this sounds like good news, maybe? But what does this "if" part mean?

The parts guy said the compliance bushings would be a bitch. I asked him if your average at home mechanic could do this, and he said "it's pretty involved, you have to take a lot of front end stuff off." But Eric's built up his tool collection quite a bit since the Taco fiascos started, and he's learned a lot from it too. Might be taking the Civic's front end apart next week when he's off. :D

I want to see a pic of your bushings. If they ain't totally separated, they ain't getting changed. If they were totally shot, you would hear some serious clunking when going over bumps. If they are totally shot, the only thing you can lose is the alignment. This is one of those things that get changed when it totally fails. And if it does start clunking, you can still drive it and schedule a change out.

These fuckers are playing on your fears.

If the techron is mostly used up, as in almost empty tank, regular will do...if not, some higher octane will help the ping and give you a bit better fuel economy. Did your oil turn black?

Will see if we can get some pics of these boots and bushings!! :D

Not sure on the oil, didn't change it yet. I know Eric just pulled the dipstick last night and he didn't mention it looking black or unusual, but I'll ask him.

Thanks everyone!! Even with my Civic, I am finding help on TW!!! This place rocks!!

This is what came up on Rock Auto for one of the two "compliance bushing" parts on that diagram.....those are a lot cheaper than $145 each

And here's what came up for the other "compliance bushing" - not a heart attack price if we do wind up really needing to do them..........

The part # for the CV boots are not coming up on RA. Weird. Checking a local store to see what they've got and what price.....

So assuming we got compliance bushings from RA for $35 each and CV boots from local store for $13 each, we'd be right around $100 to keep this little beast going a bit longer. That seems worth it! Just gotta  nothing else major breaks!

I would avoid rockauto on those, that second part number 51396sr3n03 is the part number for the motor mount and those are NOT the same bushings so this is one where I wouldn't trust the rock to send you the right part for it.

both bushings are $24 and free shipping on ebay

51396sr0a02 is the correct part number for the control arm "compliance bushing seen here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Suspension-Control-Arm-Bushing-Front-Left-Lower-Rear-fits-92-95-Honda-Civic-/291089663170?fits=Make:Honda&hash=item43c64bc4c2&vxp=mtr

and the one for the right ide: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Suspension-...vic-/261817737944?hash=item3cf58da2d8&vxp=mtr

so factory they use one part and oem they have a different one for each side (most likely for that bracket bolt position)

and the boots $14.40 each and free shipping: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CV-Joint-Boot-Kit-Front-Outer-Front-Right-Outer-BECK-ARNLEY-103-2629-/121680300562?fits=Make:Honda&hash=item1c54b60a12&vxp=mtr

print a picture of that diagram so eric can crawl up under there with it and follow the picture to find the bushings and see how hard it is to get to.

but if they aren't loose and sloppy where you can wiggle it by moving the wheel around by hand, then I don't think it needs replacing and they were just telling you that they needed changing to make more money.

remember, no matter what you tell them or what they tell you, they "want" to make a big list of stuff that needs fixing

    A fifth of J&B is $23.

Just kidding. How does $10 for both work? That includes the shipping. I'm guessing the shipping would be around $3-4. Tell me to pound sand if you think it's too much. I hate the price guessing part.
