well at least that's one decision you cant change you mind about again lol

give us a link to the civic you were looking at, is it advertised or just something you found at the dealership?

we can give you lots of more advice and opinions on its value and what you should offer them for it for you to think about

It starts correctly now, thanks to the best dealer tech ever.
Two pics to show you how snazzy she was. Just imagine what she looked like when she was 5 years young!! It's amazing how the "wrong" color grows on you in moments of thinking about $

And I didn't add the tow truck pic to be morbid - I figured I should so you guys would believe me, considering you all know my hx of changing my mind about vehicles!!

Feeling sad for sure, but also relieved. Feels like part of my young adult life just drove away. :( But, new beginning time. I know we are doing the right thing and hopefully the next Civ or Corolla type car will be as good as this one was!! Some big shoes to fill!! Cheers to my Civ guys!!

I would love everyone's input on it, but I don't want someone else to see it and go after it before we can!! That would definitely be our luck.

Sorry I missed the party today.

Yes, I was talking in generalities. Buying a vehicle as an asset for financial gain is sketchy to me and you all made good points as well.

Probably didn't help that I actually had food poisoning last night while writing and ended up in the hospital early this morning.

    Yikes!

I've never had that happen to me, from the description, I don't want to. Mend up quick.

    Feel better @Sterdog !!

Yeah, yeah, got it @keakar !

OK, here's a pic of the new commuter we're after:

Only sort of kidding. This car actually is a pretty good deal, assuming there's some play in the price - $14K with 30K miles, a 2012 Corolla. It's got a clean looking history.

And before anyone points it out, we realize that for only a couple thousand more we could have new. We prefer something used but no more than 5 yrs old over new. We fully understand the pro's and con's of each option (thanks in large part to everyone's comments on here!) and are totally settled on that decision. Unless a new Corolla or Civic falls in our laps for $14K or less. :D Otherwise, we don't want to worry about keeping the car in pristine condition in case we decide to get rid of it. We'd rather keep that couple thousand bucks now, and not feel paranoid about dog hair and coffee spills. And chip crumbs. And scratches. And dings on the doors. :D

I guess I just miss my little red beast so much that red has grown on me???? Including red in my search criteria only began this morning after the Civ left!! ;)

We just really need to pick one. There's like 5 billion Corollas and Civics that are 2011 or newer, with 50K or less miles, for somewhere between $11-15K. With sunroof, they are on the $15K end.

Otherwise, they all LOOK the same, it's just a matter of which has the best history & lowest miles for the best price.

Been using the carfax site to search today. Pretty cool, because you can select options like, "Only show me cars with 1 prev. owner, no accidents, etc" That helps whittle it down among a sea of reliable cars that all look the same. :D

The Civ that we liked best looks to have a clean history, but it's being sold by a Subaru dealer that we did not get a great impression of. Felt more dishonest and slimy and high pressure in there than other places we went. So it does make me a little bit suspicious that something might be up with that car. I think we're going to go drive it soon, either tonight or tomorrow probably. We'll see..........but in the meantime, I'm sorting through a billion Corollas to have a few top choices picked out if the Civ is a bust....like the red one!!

I sure wish I had cash to throw at a new to me runner!! I've wanted a third gen for years now! I'd totally make you hook it up on that silver one, drive up and buy it! Through a set of bumpers on her and a small lift...aahhh man, I'd love it! So would the GF!

Hmm. A 2010 Corolla with 86K miles for $11K and a good clean history. Wonder how low they'd go. If it was as well taken care of as it appears, that car should last at least 10 more years.

Would be nice to get something that cheap, so we can start funding a savings for the Taco's future repairs/replacement!! Proud of me guys? Finally realized perhaps that would be a good idea. :D
