I'm tired of this topic. I'm enjoying the night with a few, very stiff drinks. I get my first day off in 12 days. All of them 12 hrs long. Just sitting and conversing with the wife(i had time to post, she had to take a bathroom break) and listening to some plain old classic rock (Ronnie Spector and Eddie Money) on the radio.

I get to pic up our gazebo kit in the morning! Hope we aren't disappointed. Now I just need to find time to build it. Standby for updates in the near future.

I'm just happy to be alive again today. I just went down to the hotel restaurant (I'm on a business trip) and ate a small steak and some veggies without any issues :D.

Tomorrow it's off to Toronto for a quick meeting and then I'll play tourist for a day. Friday night I have Jays tickets which should be sweet considering the way they are playing.

    Good luck with the gazebo!

Well, the Corolla we went to check out was inside the service center having it's inspection process, so we didn't get to drive it or even see it. Shoulda called first I s'pose. Ah well. We are still very interested in it. It's the one with 87K for $11K, but it's records look really good. On time dealer oil changes it's whole life, no funny stuff on Carfax, regular scheduled maintenance done at the dealer, etc. And I bet I could get that price down a little bit.........you all know I'll at least give it my best shot if we wind up liking it!! :D I bought the Civ with ~75K and drove it for the next 15 yrs as a reliable, cost effective commuter, so it doesn't really scare me much to buy the RIGHT Honda or Toyota with that many miles.

Thinking we might be able to go check it out this weekend. At least the sales guy was super nice this time though - no slimy feeling = hurray! :) In the meantime, we will check out that Civ, maybe tomorrow night. I really do like the look of the Corollas slightly better than the Civs though!

Then of course on our way home, we talked ourselves into buying a 2nd Taco instead. I wonder if Guinness Book of World Records gives out awards for most indecisive person ever? :D

@koditten , can't wait to see gazebo pics!! :) Pressure's on now, we are all waiting!! @keakar , you outta give K some grief with skeleton computer images if he isn't posting completed gazebo pics within 24 hrs!!

Damn this time difference. All you east coast/midwest folks need to move to Oreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeegon!!!!!!!!! Then we can all be drinking at the same time, so we are all saying idiotic things on the same schedule

Yes, I had a J & B after getting home from the dealer. Or two. Or so. :D

    Oooh, you're good.

    Except so are we. :D

Thought about that. Pretty sure this one has a chain. Eric plans to verify when we go back, and if it doesn't, it will be on our list of items that they'd better fix or negotiate on the price.

Thanks for the tip Old School!! And keep 'em coming - I'm sure there's lotsa stuff we haven't thought of like that!

Thinking of looking up the recc' maintenance schedule on the car, to be able to compare it to what has or hasn't been done.

    Ruh roh.

Just noticed an item in the history on that Corolla that says "engine/powertrain computer/module reprogrammed" at ~75K miles. That seems odd to me - not a normal routine thing, right?

Anyone have thoughts on that? Promise I won't bite if you tell me not to get this car. :D Still very open to all advice in terms of used Civic and Corollas. While this one appeals to us, we are completely not hell bent on it yet.......

Normal. Most likely the unintended acceleration reflash that almost all Toyota vehicles are getting.

Found another low priced Corolla, just under $13K. This one is a 2011 (so it'd have a slightly lower interest rate than the other one, which is a 2010), with only ~45K miles. That thing is a baby in Toyota speak!! Carfax looks good. So it has less than half the miles of the other one, for $2K more. But........

Looks like it has a small dent in the corner of the rear bumper. If that's truly the only issue making it cheaper than comparables, it would be well worth it to us. Hell, you can almost think of it as a positive when it comes to defensive driving! I know my instinct is to get the hell away from dented cars when driving!! And it's really nice looking otherwise. Might check it out, we are headed to that area this afternoon anyway for a dr. appt.

Yikes! Just read about the unintended acceleration thing. Not for me. I'd be worrying 24/7!! It's weird to me that they did that to the computer at 75K, then the person got rid of it at 87K. Like maybe the fix didn't work. Just don't want to worry about that.

Hoping that Civ or this other Corolla I found are decent........
