Yep, lot accident. No biggie and not too bad to change out. There will be no issue with the frame. It is very difficult to "bend" the frame on a unibody vehicle. There really is no frame to bend. They have crumple zones. There will be little or no damage under that bumper cover. Toss on a couple bumper stickers on that and drive it.

Sorry guys, I wasn't very clear in that post. That's the one we drove at the Hyundai dealer with the dead battery, the mysteriously disappearing dent in the bumper (visible on internet photos, but not in person, like Keakar said), creepy jerk sales dude, car was filthy inside, and what appeared to be some sort of explosion on the underside of the hood. We don't want that car. I was just showing an example of how ridiculous this nonsense is - even if they did fix the dent appropriately, who the hell wouldn't bother to update their website photos after????????????? Just shocking to me what turds some of these places are.

Was just curious if I'm actually starting to see things :goingcrazy:, or if you guys saw the dent too.

Sounds like the consensus is - I'm not seeing things. :D

    Yet.

Meanwhile, the Civ from last night that they couldn't find the key for just dropped the online price by another $1K since last night.

I am so confused about WTF is going on with that car. o_O

They had it listed online for $14K yesterday, then the sticker on the car said $15 last night. The guy saw me looking at the sticker with disappointment and he said, "Oh, the price? Did you see it online for $1K less? We'd honor that price." We asked to drive it. He went back inside for a looooooooooooong time, then came out and said he couldn't find the key. o_O Then he wanted to show us an Acura. Eric sarcastically asked him, "If we hadn't seen the internet price, would you be able to find the key?" And Eric thinks the guy said YES! But that's not what I thought he said. :argue: So we left, then we were trying to figure out if the key thing was true (how does a dealer LOSE A KEY?!??! Especially to a car that they keep dropping the online price on, which clearly attracts more potential buyers to it?!??!?!?!) or WTF happened?????????

Then this morning we saw that the online price has dropped to $13K since last night?!??! Games of some sort it seems, I just can't figure out what!?!?!??!? A bait car to get tons of people in there over Labor Day weekend maybe? But then why didn't he push harder to sell us something else if that's their angle? Confused.

It sucks because we like that car, but are not sure what to make of this whole situation or how to proceed. The guy was supposedly going to call us, "when he finds the key," but I'm not holding my breath. Not sure what to do about it. I am really getting sick of this car search shit fast now. :frusty: Mostly just tired of being forced to be so suspicious of everything these people say - it's mentally exhausting! And yet taking what they say at face value is not a smart option either. Sigh.

Eric's off this coming week though, so ever since the Civ died, our goal has been to buy something by the time he goes back to work, a week from this Monday. Should have plenty o' time to look more, get the wheel bearing done, finish the gate/fence project, and MAYBE EVEN DO SOMETHING FUN  There's a crazy idea!!!!

@koditten , how's the gazebo coming along? Can't wait to see pics.

I am living vicariously through you right now - actually we both are!!! We were just talking about it last night, both saying how we wish we were building a gazebo right now instead of going through car dealer hell!!!!!!! At least finishing our gate project this coming week will be fun :)

Keep us entertained, show us pics/give us updates on your progress ASAP!!! :D

    Bummer!!! :(

When's it s'posed to clear up, do you know? You could always take advantage and do this instead of shopping: :mudding:

    :D

Maybe we'll wind up building our gate while you are building the gazebo! :D

That's what we keep saying too!! That it looks like a minivan that was somehow shrunk down to be superduperteenytinyminivan!! But they get even better MPG than Civs and Corollas, score perfectly basically every year since they started making them in reliability, and I would get my hatchback. Plus supposedly they are the roomiest inside of all the teeny tinys (ie, Yaris) out there right now. It's not much more hideous looking to me than the latest and greatest Honda pancake sedans anyway!!

It's starting to seem like I think EVERY vehicle is ugly, except 1st gen Tacos and super old Civs!! ;) So what's your pick Keakar, pancakes or jellybeans? :D

Question - on a lot of these small Hondas and Toyotas made in the last 5 years, I'm seeing "battery replaced" at what seems like oddly low mileages, like I just saw one that it was replaced at 2,000 miles. Why would that be???????

im done with other brands, I only buy Toyota now, but IF I were going to buy something else it would be this: http://www.cycletrader.com/dealers/...ey-Davidson-Sportster-1200-Roadster-114801904

also I would forget that interest rate thing because your spending thousands more to save a few hundred total on the financing, how the hell does that add up? think about it?

I would look for carolla in the 05-10 years because they are still around 50k-80k miles and you can get them under $10k

Like I said before, I am not hell bent on a 2011 or newer to get a lower rate, but it would be ideal. But like you are saying, if we found a great slightly older car and the interest savings is not a huge, it's not worth passing over it. With that said, we would like for this car to last a long time, so the newer the better in that regard also.

Yep, I'm past color. Could really care less about anything but reliability, miles, and price at this point!! We are officially worn down.

I like that one you linked, except the carfax says there's a recall on the passenger airbag and that there's no fix!?!?!

not a big deal in my book and they are about to replace it for free anyway as soon as they sort out a replacement for it as mentioned. its not like its unfixable or anything, it just wouldn't make sense to replace it right now with the same part that "might" have the same issue. not to mention if you read it, its about the airbag getting wet? :notsure: wtf, it doesn't rain inside the car unless you don't have a windshield lol

ask your Toyota techs about it and they will tell you the same thing, its not a problem and there is no reason to not buy the car because of it.

having that open recall even gives you leverage to get a better deal since it has a "safety issue" to get the price reduced.

Description: The subject vehicles are equipped with front passenger air bag inflators which may have been manufactured in such a way as to have a potential for the intrusion of moisture over time.

Depending on the circumstances, this could create excessive internal pressure when the air bag is deployed and cause the inflator to rupture. In the event of an inflator rupture, metal fragments could pass through the air bag cushion material, striking and potentially seriously injuring the vehicle occupants in a crash.

Remedy: Toyota is currently working on obtaining the remedy parts for subsequent phases of this Safety Recall. Additional information will be provided as remedy parts become available. When parts are available, Toyota dealers are requested to replace the Airbag Inflator Module at NO CHARGE to the vehicle owner.

OK, that's what it says. It definitely concerns me. But 99.9% of the time, there will not be anyone in the passenger seat, because when going somewhere together, we'd always choose a ride in the Taco. :D

You guys think there's any danger from this for the driver of the car?

    HOLY CRAP!!! Found it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The most perfect Civic ever. For reals this time. Gotta call and see if it's for real. Scores an A+ in every way that matters.

One tiny thing wrong - no bluetooth. Didn't even know we wanted that, til we test drove some cars that had it. Then it was like, yes, in the next 20+ years we'll own this car, it would be really nice to have. It's super annoying trying to deal with a phone while driving and risk getting a ticket.

Do you guys know if there's some cheapy aftermarket thing you could install to add that to a car that doesn't have it? The car is a 2012 Civic.
