I think Honda may be expensive to fix..... and don't want to find out I was right.

More so than a Corolla though? I know our recent Toyota repairs were not cheap

Over the next 10 years, I think the Corolla may be a lot less expensive but I could be wrong...

Just called about that Civic. It's for real, YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Made an appt to see it tonight at 8pm - assuming I can convince Eric to go back out again after getting home! I'm remembering that didn't work so well last Friday night.......:drunk:

The guy was so super professional, it felt like a breath of fresh air. Not schmoozy or pushy at all, just straightforward answers to my questions! It's only priced $300 over KBB, which I'm finding is incredibly rare in the world of used car sales!! AND, I doubled checked about the timing belt vs. chain - it has a chain!! :) No repair costs there! :D And it's certified, which means the tire tread has to be at least a year's worth left, and a bunch of other stuff that they check to be able to certify it. No tire expense for a while either!! :D

It's even the right color guys. I'm ready to sign if I can convince Eric. It's $14K which is towards the top end of what we want to spend on a used commuter, but you are getting a nice, reliable car for that price. This thing was well cared for - on time oil changes from the start, on time scheduled maintenance at the dealer from the start, 1 owner, no accidents or weird shit. I would feel confident in it's long life ahead.

Ha!!! Sorry about torturing you buddy!! Are you feeling like a skeleton?????

I'm trying my best to convince him to just buy this damn car. TONIGHT. I've done enough research for a lifetime, so I know a good deal when I see it. In terms of what we want, this car is a good deal.

EDIT: but he wants to wait to look til after the holiday weekend ends, because.....

His theory is that since this is the biggest weekend to buy cars (Labor Day sales, dealers trying to clear out 2015's to make room for 2016's), a lot of people with several year old Civs and Corollas (what we are looking for) will be trading them in for 2015's. Then in theory, the market would be flooded more so than it is now with those several year old Civs and Corollas. And what would that do? Potentially drive the prices of those down, if they have a surplus of them suddenly.

His theory really does make sense, but seems like it might not pan out exactly that way. Lots of "ifs" to it. Plus I really want this one so we can be done and not wind up spending his entire vacation week doing this!!!!!!!!!!!!! :annoyed:

Maybe I should get a taxi over there and bring it home and surprise Eric????????????????????

Whaddya guys think? Oh shit, he'll probably have to be the one to sign since he's the one that earns the $ around here :D Damn.

I am so serious guys. This really might be the one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

well while his theory does make sense when you first think about it, it means waiting another 2-3 weeks for those trade ins to be put on sale to buy one.
your not going to buy anything that came in yesterday because it takes about a week to process the trade, made sure its road safe, get it ready to resell, and then mark a price on it, so if he wants to do that then its not going to get you any sort of deal and it means waiting another 2-3 weeks on a "maybe" car that might be overpriced at that. and if you wait, for sure the car you want now will be long gone by then.

the holiday weekend deals will only apply to whats already for sale, new or used, and nothing traded in will be on sale in 2-3 weeks when they put it out to sell so waiting on something being traded in is not going to get you any deals at all.

take what you have in hand now and stop waiting for "what if" because what if might be worse and cost you more when you gave up the better deal to see whats behind curtain number two. do you remember "lets make a deal"? don't get stuck with the donkey looking for something better then you already found.

don't wait for "what if" GO BUY THAT CAR !!!

And that Corolla for $11K at the dealer we like is ready for us to see now, just got word!! It's got a lot more miles than the Civ and is 2 yrs older than the Civ, but the price is $3K lower. That one has the funny computer reprogram at 75K miles, and no certification warranty.

Hurray for having 2 potential good options, we might end the misery soon guys!!!!!!!! :)

Don't you need a smart phone for blue tooth to be effective? Did you sneak out and get a smart phone?

Did get as far as unloading the gazebo today. Got to work this weekend, then going camping on Tuesday. Get used to what it looks like, that's what it will look like for the next week.
