You're both right. He said it's a 1 in 10 chance, but he suspects we don't have that issue, cuz our gauge on the dash is working right. Someone else said that too, I know.....forgetting who, want to give credit........was it DP? Knuckle?

I asked him about possibility of rust in the tank, he agreed that it's not likely cuz filter looks good......

He even got as detailed as to tell me to make sure and show my receipt to whoever we get the pump from, cuz they'll likely not warranty it if we don't buy a filter too......

Said we don't need to replace filter after since this one's new. I asked if he'd double check pressure AFTER everything was repaired (I taught myself that's important, from reading 100 articles) - he said of course! I'll leave my gauge on til everything is done!

    LOVE THIS GUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He commented again about the rail being stripped, clearly expressing in a roundabout way that ain't right. Said "I don't know who did that, but..."

    I said, "I KNOW!"

He asked if I minded telling him who did the engine, I told him, he wasn't familiar w/them, then I proceeded to tell him many things I will not post on the web.....

I asked if he thought we needed the FPR, he said probably not a bad thing, considering we will now have a totally fine tuned fuel system, so who knows, maybe we did anyway.........I like looking at it like that (good job Kigmob!)

BEST PART - I asked him how much to swap our pump - he said probably ~2 -2.5 hours, at FIFTY DOLLARS AN HOUR. FOR A MASTER MECHANIC THAT USED TO WORK FOR TOYOTA. HAPPIEST ENDING I COULD HAVE EVER DREAMED OF. WILL NOW BEGIN SOBBING TEARS OF JOY. I LOVE THIS GUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Told me I can do the Rock Auto route for the pump, but advised to check locally too, so that if we get the wrong part, a local store can sort that shit out easier.......will now wipe tears of joy and being calling every auto parts store in the area.

WOW. Can't believe this. HAPPIEST MOMENT SINCE I HEARD THE WORDS SPUN ROD BEARING.

Just called husband and told him the good news. And neighbor just called, I thanked him profusely for putting us into this angel from heaven's hands. I begged our new mechanic (damn it feels good to say that!) to tell me what he likes to eat/drink (on top of his insanely fair labor charges of course) and the guy is even humble too! He actually chuckled and said, "don't thank me yet til I repeat the test and fix your truck for you!" Wow. And he actually apologized for not getting back to us sooner! I told him, my truck sat at other mechanic's for nearly a month and days would go by w/no update......I brought my truck to you less than 12 hours ago and you're apologizing for not updating me sooner? Who are you and how did I get so lucky???????

Gotta be gentile with those fuel rail fittings,,all fuel line fittings.

Before you blow the candles out,,,keep a tiny bit of your excitement, or make it a big open ended wish.

Oh yeah, and he said he could probably solder the wired on our sender gauge if it does wind up being the freak occurrence thing.

Described how he did that while he was asleep on his buddy's truck.

OK, I made that last part up........[IMG]

Who said they don't think we have that issue, cuz our gauge on the dash is working right? Want to give credit where credit is due! And someone (maybe same person?) said the same thing about soldering the wires I think........wait, I might be thinking of my buddy Matt. Hmmmm

I don't think you would want my 4 cylinder 2wd but I am swapping to bucket seats soon so im getting it ready for you

not sure who said it first but a few of us said it sounded like it "had to be" the check valve or the injectors leaking because they are what hold the line pressures.

I had concerns about your mechanic "after the rebuild" as the things he was telling you, mainly that I woulid expect a mechanic that takes pride in his work would insist on solving any issues "after the fact" because that reflects on the quality of his work.

im a 35 year a/c tech and I get mad if someone else has to work on a unit after I have fixed it, its a pride thing that I do things right or I don't do it at all. I don't care if I have to work 12 hours straight to solve a problem and rarely charge if its in the least bit related to anything I handled or adjusted but maybe that's just me?
