    Update:

The problem has been completely solved by changing the transmission fluid. I took it to the dealer and had them do a complete flush. It costs me $300 but To me, it was worth it. After initially driving the truck back from the dealer, I still noticed a very slight vibration. As I put more miles in the truck (about 20), the low speed shutter went away.

I know this topic has been beaten to death and I searched other threads and found many similar topics but I am still perplexed. 2006 PreRunner with a 6” lift, 189,000 miles.

About a month ago, it suddenly began to shudder and vibrate. I noticed it was not speed dependent but RPM dependent. Only does this between 1,500-2000 rpm.

Reading similar topics in this forum, I did the following:
    Extended and rebalanced the driveshaft.
    Replaced the carrier bearing.
    Dropped the carrier bearing.

After almost $1,000, the truck still vibrates! It is less obvious but still there. What could of caused my truck to begin vibrating in the first place after many trouble free miles?

I also rotated the front tires to the rear and no change at all. Any ideas?

    Thanks I’m advance.

Weren’t motor mounts an issue on the 2006 I’m sure that would cause some vibrations

I started to have this issue about 6-8 weeks ago. My truck would vibrate just as you describe; at low RPM's, specifically during light acceleration. If there was extra pressure on the truck (going up a hill or on bumpy roads) it would really vibrate. To avoid the entire truck from vibrating like hell, I would accelerate to shoot the RPM's up and problem was solved for that minute..

I searched around a few threads and followed their recommendations; I changed out the u-joints, carrier bearing, and balanced the drive shaft, but I continued to feel some (less than before) vibrations. I went to a friend's mechanic who rebuilds transmissions and he told me to change the transmission oil. He said something within the lines that old "lifetime" oils will not cause enough pressure on the clutches, which will cause some vibration on low RPM's and right before the trans shifts between the gears. I searched on TW and saw that a few members who had similar vibration symptoms had done fluid changes or complete flushes with good results.

For the last 2 weeks, I have done a trans oil change (approx. 3 qts / week) and it's help a decent amount. Truck seems to vibrate a lot less at low RPM's and it shifts much, much smoother. I'll be doing two more fluid changes hoping replace more of the old fluid. However, I still get vibration when I go over worn down, bumpy roads. It feels like the transmission is about to pop out of place.. At this point, I suspect my motor/trans mounts might be shot so I'll probably be tackling that next. If that doesn't help out, I'll probably have to rebuild the entire front end with new shocks, wheel bearings, ball joints, etc.. I'm happy to change all of this out since my truck probably needs it, but I'd really like to fix the vibration issue first since it's driving me crazy..

Bman, I bought the truck used about 60k miles ago and I’ve never changed the ATF. My symptoms are exactly like you described. Give it more throttle to push through the vibration or let off the pedal. I will change the ATF next. Thanks

Any updates on this? My truck, 2006 prerunner, started doing exactly as described above. Shutters bad at around 35 mph, light throttle. Particularly when going uphill. I changed the trans fluid once and put a tube of shutter fix in it. This seemed to help (maybe?) for a while. Now the shutter is back. If I take my foot off the petal or stomp on it the shutter will stop

I've got the exact same thing on a 06 DCDB TRD off road, 225K bought it with 150K.
Bilstein 5100's on click 3 in the front, 5100 rear, leaf spring warranty replacement. Changed Trans fluid once since owning it. I hate the vibration! I also want to know about any progress!

I did increase the lift 0.75 in the front in hopes to add an AAL in the rear to increase weight capacity about 5 months ago but the vibration is recent.

I'm going to drop the carrier bearing and see what it does overall.
