I am new to the Tacoma world...pun intended...I bought my first Tacoma (2013 TRD Sport). I love the truck, but as with anythign I own, I am never happy with anything out of the box. All my previous vehicles were loaded with all the bolt on mods. Never supercharged or had any engine work. I am trying to find some advice on what companies are good for the Tacomas. I have found that different manufactures and diffierent models within companies work better with different aftermarket companies. I had DC Sports on Hondas, Borla on Mustangs and flowmasters on F-150's. I am now lokoing to do a little mod work on my Tacoma. Initially, I am looking at CAI and Cat back. ANy opinions? I know K&N are good traditional after market intakes, however I need more opiniosn on Airaid and Volant. Also...I see both Flowmaster and Borla for exhaust. Any opinions on sound and performance from each of them or any other company? What can I expect, from your experience by adding each of these items...and possibly some headers? ALso, has anyone had any experience with teh throttle body spacers (like the poweraid)? Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance for any help!

One other thing...I believe this comes stock with a CAI. Is it worth it to jsut leave that in place and focus on exhaust with a set of headers and cat backs? And if I do switch out headers, do I need to swap out the cats? Or will the stock cats work with headers and cat-backs? I don't know enough about the Tacoma aftermarket world yet to know what I can and cannot do and whether any of it is worth it with a good car standard...Thanks

Outside of a supercharger, bolt-ons won't get you much at all.

A chip / intake would be good

Might could help with the HP...

I am not looking to enter the Nascar truck series or race in baja...I am really looking to add something i may be able to notice as well as make it sound nice. Some of the things I have read include the Volant or Airaid CAI; LT Headers (not sure which manufacturer) and the TRD cat back exhaust. One mentioned a manifold spacer...not sure what that is, any help with that would be nice. :D

Haha. Sorry, he's not trying to be mean. There's a lot of threads of people asking the same thing (about once a week) and the general consensus is there's nothing that generates much gain.

You could check out urd for a true cold air kit. Maybe a intake manifold spacer (not throttle body spacer), maybe a maf cal from urd too. Sorry, those won't make great gains but its arguably some gain. Lots of discussion as to which works and stuff.

If you go with headers a lot of guys run the Doug thorley long tubes. As far as exhaust, I have the Trd catback, I like it alright, nothing special. Makes noise when I want it to, quiet when I don't. Hp gains...minimal, if anything. Guys try to do anything for a few extra horsepower on these things, intake manifold spacers, CAIs, headers, exhaust, painting flames on the side...if you want to see real gains you gotta supercharge it :D
