    Just wanted to share.

Today, my buddy and I were driving down a 4 lane road when we came across a BMW X1 stopped in the right lane with its hazard lights on. We spotted the owner sitting and holding her infant baby on a grassy area on the side of the road so we decided to stop and ask if she needed help or wanted us to push the car out of the way so it's not blocking traffic. As we walked up to her, 2 firemen also pulled up to see if they could be of assistance. She said she thought there was something wrong with the transmission. I told her we should push it around the corner to a safer spot. One of the firemen jumped into the driver seat to try to turn the car on and put it in neutral. The engine would turn, but then immediately die. There was no other way to shift the car into neutral, or at least we couldn't figure it out (BMW shifters are electrical). At that point, we notice an important message on the dash..."Miles Due to Empty: 0". We all look at each other with a look of "this dumb f..." The last scheduled service was also overdue by several thousand miles. We tried a little longer to put the car in neutral but had no luck. The firemen then told her they were calling a tow truck to which the woman replies, "okay, but I don't want to pay for it." It also became clear to us at that point that she had not called anyone for help and was probably just waiting for people to pull over to help her. My buddy and I start laughing at how idiotic this woman was and left her with the firemen.

    I hate people some times.

Lots of idiots out there. Before we were "civilized", these idiots were gobbled up by wild animals or fell in holes and croaked, or maybe ate a poisonous grub.

Now we nurture them into adulthood, where they are free to interact with society and reproduce. It's a nasty chain of events.

I could, but something tells me that was not the case. She didn’t seem too concerned or troubled. The entire interaction gave me the impression that she was just an aloof person in general.

OP strikes me as a person who can identify an idiot as such when he comes across one.

I will stand by his assessment, and further, I will consider this woman to be an idiot in my own judgement based solely on OP's eloquently written description of events.

This. As a stay at home dad. There are days where my brain is scattered on anything but taking care of my son. If I’m out and about, and my truck dies on a roadway, I’m not going to sit in it trying to diagnose it with my son in the back while the interior temp goes up and traffic drives by. She did the right thing by getting the child out of the potential dangerous situation. See how many dumbasses hit parked cars or police on the side of the road? Talk about people who shouldn’t have cars... being a little judgmental aren’t we?

I try not to judge people based on only a few minutes of interaction. People have off days, have lapses in judgement, or whatever. But then there are those who somehow advertise their personality like it’s written on their forehead.
