Maybe not an issue in the Carolinas, but big issue in the NE.

'Tan lines' of dirt around the mats defeats a large part of the purpose of protecting the carpet in my estimation, especially when you have dirty salt water dripping off of your feet while entering for 4 months out of the year. Theres only one right answer in my climate and that is after having had the Huskys and the Weathertechs. I use the TRD mats over the Weathertechs.

As far as the holes, i was concerned about that as well, though i has about 1/2 inch of that dirty salt water sitting in the lower portion of the liner a few days ago and though the pool was a good distance downhill from the holes, this was of some concern. I peaked under after absorbing the pooled water out and no leakage at all to this point.

I'll keep you posted. If i see any leakage, it would be simple enough to seal the holes. Fabricating the doorsill overhang would be a hell of a lot bigger trick.

I have the worst god damned luck with mine.

1: When it was two weeks old, I was driving down a two lane road and a gravel truck was flying around the corner with no cover over the top of gravel he was hauling. He dumped gravel all over the front of my truck, putting a bunch of pits in the hood and bumper. Had to have it re-painted.

2: A year or so later, I was going down the freeway. About 200 feet in front of me was a truck loaded with plumbing pipe. A couple fell off, I couldn't swerve because I was between two other cars.A pipe hit the bumper, swung around and nailed the door. It caved in the door shell and wrecked the bumper and grille. Had to have that fixed too. Luckily the bumper looked like crap from the previous gravel truck, thus it and the grill were "upgraded" from painted black to chrome. The asshole in the plumbing truck saw this happen and only took off down the freeway.

3: Parked at my then girlfriend's house in SF. A Taxi ran into the rear fender and took off before I could get the license. Had to have that fixed too.

4: lastly, her neighbor with a ball hitch rammed into my bumper. Refused to admit he damaged it. I replaced the bumper myself, threw the dented one in the back of his truck.

I feel your pain. That happened to me a week after I got my truck. Fortunately, paintless dent removal helped since I had no paint scratched off.

On the other hand, I just got back from snowboarding on Friday, and after I washed the truck, I noticed that I had this huge scratch on my bumper as if someone used it to take off their ski boots! What the crap?! I know it was the crappy Subaru that parked in front of me. I don't know why some folks in Colorado think that they can just use someone else's vehicle to put on/take off ski boots, lay their skis on, and sit/stand on.

Oh well, it's a truck right? I just hate that someone else damaged it and it wasn't while I was offroading. Lame.

My Wife inherited her Father's car after he passed away. He lived in Pennsylvania and we live in California. Holy crap! The weather is rough on cars up North. The engine, frame, and all the exposed metal on this car were either really corroded or faded. The engine looks "white" with aluminum rust. I spent a week under it with a wire brush and cans of spray paint. The car mats were shot to hell. Its only a 7 year old car, but it looked like it was 15 years old when we got it. I'm still cleaning the thing up.
