Posted in the discussion section but, didn't get any replies. Figured I'd try here. I just ordered a set of revotec headlight housings and after more reading I've decided to due a projector retro. I'm going to be ordering the mini ds2 kit from trs in the next week or so. My first question is, I've seen some Retros where the inner and outer(I guess turn signal bowls) were somewhat blacked out. Was wondering if this look was done by tinting the bowls or the lenses? Also, what paint is normally used for this? I also plan on blacking out the bowl behind the projector. What paint is normally used here? I know it seems people are using the krypton fusion but, is it flat, semi or high gloss? I would like to complete the lights if possible before I even remove the stock set. I've read the mini ds2 kit is a drop in kit. Is there any test fit and alignment procedures that need to be done before reassembling the lenses? I would like to have the retrofit complete if possible, then just swap them out one day and be able to do any alignment there after. Thanks for any feedback.

Morimoto D2S is a drop in with an alignment tab. There is a little play so adjustment may be needed slightly once installed in vehicle. Krylon Fusion IIRC can be had in a flat or semi. A full gloss may be available as well. Prep is key. Allow plenty of time to dry before sealing the lights back up. Non OEM housings require some extra sealing due to their tendency to leak.

Thanks for the reply. So I can make any adjustment needed after the headlights have been resealed? I plan to remove the sealer and resealed them with the product trs sells. Any ideas on how to get that smoke look for the turn signals? Thanks again.

D2S is a drop in BUT do not use the adaptor plate.

I usually just paint the turn signal area. As for flat, semi, and gloss, that's all preference. I see a lot of flat black paint.

You cannot make rotational adjustments once it's sealed.

I'll find Andrews right up in a bit

Got everything in and was wondering what to use to strip the chrome from the Apollo shrouds. I plan on using easy-off on the reflector bowls. Didn't know if I could use the same on the shrouds. My plan is to strip off the chrome, prep everything with a scotch brite pad, and paint with flat black krylon fusion. I also plan to tint the turn signals with some vht nightshades followed up with some clear coat.
