Talked to two different dealers this morning on TRD OR Premium's. Both are around 45.5 MSRP. Both are willing to do ~39.8 +TTL.

Does this sound like a good deal?

Don't buy a 2020. I heard from a friend that they can explode spontaneously ...

Try driving this truck on an incline for over 1 mile with a speed limit of 45 or higher and then tell me the truck drives fine. Lol. I love my truck but sitting at 5000rpms to keep me moving at 60mph on an incline for over 2 miles is a joke.

Press the gas pedal, it will be fine. These engines like to rev high, big deal.

If you have a 2nd gen that you like, you gotta be out of your mind to drop 40k on a new 3rd gen IMO.

Like others have said, if you have the money to throw away then by all means, but your post sounds a tad like you are already justifying the new purchase to me.

The new cartridge filters are a pain in the ass to change, and I service my '16 Tacoma, our (2) '18 work Tundras, and a '18 4Runner. Anyone that says canisters and cartridges are the same amount of work probably doesn't change their own oil.

I had a 2nd gen 4cyl that drove me nuts because of lack of power, no 4x4, and it was access cab or honestly I would still have it.

The 2020s have the latest updates, so most TSBs don't apply. There may be new ones in the future though :)
IMO, these are nice trucks. Most 3rd gen complaints are about the auto transmission (much improved in 2020), seating position (power seats on 2020), and no apple carplay (it's there is 2020).

Kinda funny. Two pages of responses and I think I counted two posts that actually attempted to answer the questions.

(and the ultimate irony is that I'm not doing it, either. Not lost on me at all!)

Mine started at 16k miles. They did the TSB and problem went away. The results are mixed though among us who have it done.

Be forewarned . You can lift Tacoma’s 2018 and up but once your TSS malfunction gremlin shows up on your dash you’re on your own. There’s some fixes one of them is to disable the TSS which you wanted in the first place. Even changing the front grille might trigger that gremlin some but not all.

You can always get clazzio seats or something else, you'll still have your heated seats option. IMO its better because down the road if something happens or tears you can just rip it out and replace. Easy peasy

I don't mind the cartridge filters as much as i hate the 0w-20 splashing alll over my driveway on its way out of the oil pan
