What does “a bit stiff mean”? Haha I’m coming from OME 883s.

I have a trail gear front bumper with the bumper support and a winch. Do you thing 600 will be enough or should I go with the 700?

883s are practically the same, they're 590# springs so shouldn't feel any different there

If they aren't sagging now then I don't think you need 700s

Well I hope they would feel different, because it’s one of the reasons I’m getting rid of them and going to coilovers. Just gotta figure out if I need the 600 or 700 king springs. The 883s still sag a bit.

yeah I just mean with the spring rating, the King shocks themselves are going to be world's better than the Nitrochargers that the OME kit comes with

Where you really notice the difference is offroad especially at speed, Kings and other performance coilovers will hold up to that kind of abuse much better than regular shocks will.

So the dakar pack is 2.5” of lift? So the 1/2” shackles would be 3” but then with the weight of everything would sag it back down. So could an AAL get me back up to around 3in with a tire carrier bumper, rack, fuel, Jack and RTT? This is going to be interesting.

Going with the cross member or outboard with wheel spacers?

Part of me says under the bed, but I'd have to stay at a hotel to get it dialed in just right (person I trust is in so-cal).

Or go outboard, and it can get setup a lot quicker/easier.

Going outboard is supposed to provide more stability, but you run into clearance issues if running reservoirs.

Did you get your Kings tuned right when you ordered them? Or did you just do OTS?

Not going to prerun the thing, and my religion's #1 deadly sin is wheel spacers, so those are out.

I had a custom shock relocation on my old 4runner. That was kinda neat. I had an older set of oem lower shock/leaf perches, so the shocks mounted to the same side of the axle (before they went with the staggered shocks like on the tacos), then did a cross member and the upper mounts were inboard. So the / \ style. It was no sports car, but I got about 20-22" travel in the rear with some RS9000's. That extra travel made up for having open diffs. I didn't do any of that work, my brother did.

I def don't want to cut the bed. Probably end up doing something like what @turbodb did. His 2nd attempt, not his first. :D

Yeah, I am doing just fine without resis. I never noticed my 5100s fading with my driving style, so the ext 2.5 Kings are even better, didn't see a need for the extra cost of the resis.

If you run the whoops in the desert flat out all the time, sure, get resis. I'd argue that easily 90% of people out there running resis wouldn't even notice if you replaced them with a 5100 painted blue (or whatever color you like).

Especially if you aren't hammering on the 2.5's all the time (daily driver), you won't have to rebuild them nearly as often as that guy makes it sound.

Lol I'll read your post and come back once I'm home.

It sucks that I had a chance to buy that crossmember kit that came up in the marketplace a while back but I didn't since I wasn't sure that I would ever relocate.

Also had a custom franken leaf pack. top 2 leafs were from a 2wd Nissan, rest were stock iirc, and a relocated front spring perch. Just had it welded in front of the stock one.

Still miss that truck. had 320+k (indicated) on the ticker.

    Same.

All you really need tho is some tubing. I think that's all the one on my 4runner was. Probably scrap from someone's rock sliders or something.

So then tell me, or point to me why I shouldn't but I had considered the chevy leaf spring mod. Someone in the LT said that's go fast stuff...but with all the added flex and still maintaining payload, why wouldn't I want it for off roading?

Can you imagine the panty dropping at the mall when I put that rear tire over the curb?

Shit, yeah, forgot about the chevy leafs. :anonymous:

I think for me the main detractor is just the amount of fabrication that requires. Welding on a couple tabs for shock mounts is one thing, but the chevy leafs you're basically completely re-engineering the suspension. A lot can go wrong.

Super temping though, and it's still not 100% out of the realm of possibilities.

Also, they seem to be HIGHLY variable with the amount of lift you get. Hard to predict what you'll get until you're done.

Also also, putting a chevy product on my tacoma just seams wrong.

*tosses idea of going LS/4L60E swap*

There are kits out there that provide the shackle for using a chevy 63 spring, as well as the front eyelet mount that simply replaces the stock one.

Template included as well as you only have to weld it 9" forward of the stock setup.

Plug n play almost for someone that welds.

Idk, I'll keep the rears stock for awhile as really I need help up front but that's soon coming anyway.

Let's not confuse the OP further
