I have 3 weeks with my TRD Pro MT, and get around the same milage range (340) with a full tank

Yeah I’m getting about 18-20 a gallon. More than what it actually say on the dash.

Then you should definitely be getting around 360-400 in the dash, not including the 1 gallon reserve. So maybe the computer needs to be reset.

This is why I always try to gas up at half a tank lol. Who knows if the computer is actually right. 3 trucks, 3 different numbers given at full tank.

I always reset my miles to 0 every time i fill up the tank and yeah I’m averaging almost more than 360 a tank. Yeah maybe my sensor is fucked up

500 miles doesn't mean much in way of trans shift etc. you have a heavier truck with a different suspension now. It's in your head.
That's not how distance to empty works. The sensors fine. It learns over time avg tank distances and throws out a number. But the number changes in real time over the course of the tank. You won't fill up saying 390 dte then get 390 miles away doing 80 mph. It goes off past data. It's a guesstimate of future driving conditions. the mpg data on the truck is very accurate

I don't think there would be less quality just differences between models. The Off Road has a smoother ride and maybe that is altering your perception.

Doesn't the computer calculate distance remaining based on past mpg history? I would think this would flow over to a new tank perhaps?

I test drove 3 different 17s before deciding I wasn't going to get a 3rd gen. I was talked into driving an 18 and can say without question, the 18s transmission felt different. Way smoother.

Maybe because they weren't full of transmission fluid, or possibly because they didn't have the TSB performed. No clue. But they weren't the same.

Anyone know if there are any mechanical differences between the 18s and 16-17s? Could it just be a software change? If a software change, could Toyota load that on 16-17s?

Regardless of actual mileage on a tank, when I refill I seem to get two or three of the same mile numbers displayed for the projected range, as I start driving. After a while it adapts to actual mpg and fuel level. Never seen it shown as over 400, even if by the end of the tank I have (or could have) gone over 400 miles.

I think I see the issue. Cavalry Blue Pro's obviously not only look better, we get better mileage as well... :crapstorm:

My first full tank from the dealers lot showed 406 miles on my 2018 Trd OR. In the next month I will get a lot of mileage data.

Full Tank - display recalibrates to 385 miles until empty every time. Maybe 2017 SR5s are special - Left Twix!!!!

You were the only one to get it right . The computer calculates your approximate distance based on driving habits . My 16 TRD OR dcsb had 400 miles to the tank new . Since then I lifted it threw armor all the way around with a winch bed rack and RTT . I recently packed it full and did a cross country road trip and of course hauled ass and got terrible fuel economy. Coming through Arizona and California on the windy mountain passes I got 10 mpg tank average. I've now returned home and unloaded took the rack off and am getting 16.5 average mpg without calibrating the speedo so maybe more. Total milage estimation for a tank is now 300 mi .
It will no doubt be higher on the next fill up.

But is everyone getting the same actual miles it states on the dash when empty?
