Big, bright blue shiny truck... I can definitely understand how they didn't see you.

I feel your frustration. Had my truck less than two months and I got Clipped in a parkinglot and a door ding that gouged it down to the metal I'm trying to figure out which route to go on. As far as a new panel, if your going through your insurance your subject to your contract which more than likely says repair if possible and unless you selected the option when you purchased your policy you're not guaranteed to get oem parts. If going through the person who hit you, you can argue it should be returned to the condition it was before the incident which is like new.

    I'd say repairable.

I make replacement graphics for a couple of the local body shops. Its amazing what some of them can do now a days.

Geico will do whatever is cheaper for them. You have zero chance of diminished value claim from cheap ass Geico.

Repair it, go over it, if there's a problem, address it. Otherwise, you'll be fine. Accidents happen. I know what it feels like though, but it'll fade with time.

Get the high Clarence bumper, that dented spot will be gone in place of steel

Over here in my Province, if you have full insurance coverage you get the repairs covered by your own insurance company and they chase after the 3rd party insurance for repairs for you.

Why do you have to do what his insurance says? You pay your company to look out for your vehicle.

I Agree with everyone else though, accidents happen and thats a simple repair job.

Same exact damage to my new Tacoma last week. $3600 in repairs. The guy that hit me had GIECO but I am going through USAA, my insurance. I just ordered the C4 fab bumper. Instead of repairing fender, I'm cutting it out for the armored wrap around of the bumper. The only problem is the BSM monitor will not work with C4 fab bumper. The plan is to relocate into back corners of the camper shell.

Not sure where you are located, but in my state you have a right to get repairs where you want, regardless of potentially higher costs.

I had someone scratch my rear bumper cover piece. The shop (dealership) said the piece had to be replaced as a result of the dimpling, and could not be repainted as it would not finish correctly after sanding, would leave a flat spot. That rear quarter panel has that dimpling as well. Something to think about, maybe have your local dealer give an estimate if they have a shop.

These are the only two parts they're replacing from my incident. The rest are just scratches.

Not going dealership for my repairs, but a guy down the street owns an auto body and collision shop and did a good job on my wife's care and my mother in law's car. So... There I go.

3600$ that's extremely generous. Mine got hit worse than that. 1600$ is all I got. Repair and refinish bedside. It really is a very easy repair for a good body shop

I expect my vehicle to be returned in the condition it was in before the accident. If they can't sufficiently repair it to acceptable standards then they'll replace it. Not greedy but you don't know what the repair will look like until its done.

Dude! You have the perfect accident. I've been waiting on a hit like that to pay for a high clearance steel bumper that would cover all that.

Why I love USAA, when someone hit and run my 8 month old car the adjuster wrote it for all new body panels not just a repair.

Any idea what it would cost to this whole panel repainted from a premium shop?
