I need someone brave enough to go out to there Taco and take the single screw out of there cruise control switch and look inside and snap a picture or something of how the thing is assembled. All there is is: 2 leads, a spring, and a 3 pronged piece of copper. I can't figure out how the copper prong goes in there. This thing just popped apart one day (after warranty of course) and I've never been able to find schematics as to how it goes back together. Please TW don't let me down??? This could be such a quick fix if someone could do this.

Why dont you go ask your local stealership? Ask them for a drawing of the pieces you are trying to assemble?

Yeah, I've tried that in SoCal n they told me they didn't have the schematics for it. I did just try the dealership here in WA and was more persistant about the issue and they told me they'd try n find something n call me back; I'm just waiting.

Dealership said "$165 for the part" No way! My parts are all fine just don't know how they fit together.

Did you ever find an answer? My CC button popped out further than normal, and after pushing it back in, the CC doesn't work. Hopefully I won't have to buy an new switch.

It's funny that you ask because I just shot a PM to a memeber on here last night. He's selling some cruise control switches and I asked him if he wouldn't mind backing the single screw out of the cruise control and taking a picture of how it is assembled. He said that he'd send a picture in a day or two. I'll post it when I know.

Sorry best I could do my warranty is up or I might have gone and taken it apart and went to dealer later with it in my hand going I don't know it broke FIX IT! lol The three pronged copper piece looks very very similar might go together the same way I don't see Toyota making each cruise control switch internally different but perhaps.

So you want someone to take out the screw on the back of the stick? This one?

If you dare lol. There are two prongs attached to the side the screw is going into. There is a spring and a 3 pronged piece of copper on the inside as well that I have no idea which way they are placed in there. If you can get a good picture of how the spring and piece of copper go in, you'de be helping myself out, and at least one other member. I'd hate for you to mess yours up though, so if you have a warranty, no problem. Other than that, be careful.
    Here's what I'm talking about- http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/193231-cruise-control-switch-popped-apart.html

I replied on your old post, but I will copy it here too. Have you really been trying to fix this for 2 YEARS?!

    Anyhow...

Take some better pictures and I am sure I can figure that out. Also, if possible, hold that little E shaped piece up to the switch housing.

I think all that switch does is momentarily connect the 2 wires going into it, like a momentary SPST switch.

That copper piece would be moved by the button on the end to come in contact with the 2 pads that the wires are attached to.

As far as the orientation of that little copper contact, it is hard to see how it fits in the switch housing so I can't help with that without some better pics. I think the spring would contact the longer center prong of the copper piece so that the on/off button would be spring loaded. (you push the button which pushes the contact to touch the pads on the wires. The spring pushes it all back when you let your finger off.)

I have a 1st Gen, otherwise I would have taken mine apart already. :p

Here's one with a flash and one without. I couldn't decide which one showed up better. If you click on the picture, that'll take you to my gallery where you can click on the picture again and it'll be nice and big. Do that and turn the brightness on your monitor all the way up. And maybe zoom in as well. ;) Hope this helps!

I've had the problem for a while lol. Now the Taco gets a lot of freeway miles so the cruise control is finally a priority again. If someone doesn't post a pic, I'll get some closer pics of the switch and see if it can't be figured out by trial and error. Thanks for the advice!

That looks great Collin! I can definitely work with that. The copper peice looks a little different than mine, which is maybe why mine popped apart, but I can see how it goes together. The wife has the Taco right now but I'll give it a try as soon as she gets home. Thanks!
