"Hey, sir I came into work in a real shitty mood. Been taking some supplements that have been fkng w/ my head. I was super pissed about me having to take care of all the shit around here. Anyway, I responded to one of your e-mails very tacky and distasteful. I just wanted to clear the air before you read it".

His response:"Really, I'll read it with a cup of coffee"

    My thoughts: "Great"

    10 mins later:
So I don't even think he read it.

LOL. Yeah. That was to close for comfort. Especially, since they are writing me a decoration for my tour.

Well, its good you manned up. If its not obvious to you, here's the lesson in this:

NEVER, ever, write something in an email you don't want repeated. As far as I'm concerned, when I write an email to someone(and I'm deployed and in the military like yourself), its public information. That little forward button is dangerous. You might be writing your best friend, but God knows where that email might end up. Just don't do it.

That being said, if you need to vent about something or someone, do it in person or over the phone to someone you trust. That way you get it out, but its only said once...and its only here-say/rumors after that. And you can always respond to that with the standard deny-deny-counteraccuse strategy.

That's good advice ... same goes for the internet (here and especially FaceBook). I know a story about a guy here that got busted (administrative punishment) for making derogatory comments on FaceBook about a superior.

Also know of people getting busted for forwarding inappropriate content in e-mail; got picked up by random sweeps/scans by the Comm folks.

Just food for thought ...
