Ahhhh i just went out and looked and I saw the little speaker grill! i figured that was for the emergency call thing. But it is very cool that the Enfig will plug into it. Good to know there are options. I just dont want to drop a grand or more on a HU and it not have everything i want lol

Agreed 100%. I am someone who really doesn't accept less than perfection on most things, I'm just really picky. I was able to solve every problem I had with my stock unit by going aftermarket - so I'm happy. I do wish the aftermarket looked a bit more seamless, but I simply can't do anything about that, so I'm willing to accept how it looks.

Have you or anyone heard any good things about the Joying HU? I've watched a few videos, not alot out there as far as videos go that i've found. Looks cool, and i've read about people liking it, however i'm a little afraid it'd be a chinese-made piece of junk. Its cheap tho lol

I've heard of it and seen people like it, but it looked to me like chinese junk....so I avoided lol. The operating system and just the whole thing in general didn't really jive with my tastes. But, lots of people do seem to like it. I honestly don't know a whole lot about it.

I couldn't find a picture of the Kenwood in the Tacoma surprisingly. Could only find pictures of it the vehicle it went into next, a Jeep.

I'm beginning to realize what an undertaking it will be to replace this JBL head unit and keep all the functionality. I'm having second thoughts. I may give it a few months to see if something new comes on the market. I have been looking at the Kenwood DMX 1057xr and really like it, but i need to do some more research haha.

Mine wasn't a JBL, but what is involved?

The iDatalink Maestro preserves most of the OEM settings and what-not. Does Crutchfield recommend anything other than the Maestro and adapters?

That's one of the best features about Crutchfield....Once you've plugged in your vehicle and add your product to the cart, it will prompt you to add (or not) the parts needed to install. It even has an easy to read feature support matrix

It won’t be that bad. It’s overwhelming getting all the parts, but putting them together is not bad. There are plenty of guides to help. The cost is the main kicker.

Yeah i guess its not that bad. I still hate that i'd have to run a new mic. it bugs me that the stock one can't be integrated. does the Maestro allow you to use your SiriusXM antenna? i dont want to have to add another.

true. i have become pretty familiar with crutchfield's site over the past few days. I still just cant get over the utter lack of other options out there with volume knobs. Maybe i'm just a boomer lol

Running the new mic isn't that hard. Willing to bet someone has done a write-up on pulling the a-pillar trim and the ceiling console.

Most, if not all the replacement headinits can use the OEM SiriusXM antenna with an adapter.

Nice. Good to know the Sirius antenna will work, but you still have to buy the SXM module correct?

Yes. They run a frequent deal where you basically get it for free when you activate it.

Yes, you need a tuner and you need the adapter kit. It comes in one of the idatalink kits crutchfield recommends I’m pretty sure. I had it working at one point but then I broke a wire. I don’t use it anyways.

Don’t let the mic be a downer, the enfig is literally an improvement. Running the cable is not difficult, 30-60 min job. You only have to pull two things. The roof console pulls straight down. The a pillar you lift up the SRS label and remove the bolt. Really no big deal.

Nice. I already have a subscription, i wonder if i'd qualify for that deal. Otherwise looks like 70 bucks on crutchfield. starts adding up lol. $1300 for HU, $250 for maestro, $70 for siriusXM, plus the microphone and mounting kit. I'd say i'm getting close to 2 grand at this point

    It sucks!

SiriusXM will treat the new tuner as a new account kind of so you'd qualify for the rebate.

Doesnt sound too bad then. I used to fool around with car stereos all the time in my late teens and early 20s. Now i'm mid 40s and I just dont get as excited about pulling apart my dash and trim as i used to haha
