Someone trashed my bumper, what should I replace with?

Over the weekend while my truck was parked at my office ( I was traveling for work) someone decided to drive into my passenger bumper.

    A few questions:

1: What is the best steel rear bumper for the 3rd gen? I wouldn't mind getting the spare tire up on a swing?

    2. Has anyone dealt with insurance and replacing OEM with an aftermarket bumper? I have an estimate in hand for $2,800 of parts (Sensors and all) my thought is as long as the selected bumper is less than that I should be all set?

Jesus 2800$ I had my tailgate replaced for 1500. Guess those sensors are expensive. Have you been creeping through the parking lot looking for the car that hit you? I am sure they suffered something similar. Plenty of companies making stuff with sensors. just do a search, sure something will come up

I got a call from the person who did it so it will be on their insurance thankfully! $800 for the blind spot monitor alone!

I believe CBI is the only maker that keeps BSM working on a plate bumper.

Edit: Correction C4-Fab makes the bumper that can use BSM not CBI.

Sorry for your damage, glad the guy that hit you was a nice person, you were lucky. I watched a guy drive away without leaving a note after hitting someone else’s car - so I put a note on the car for him with his license plate number and a description of him and the car- along with my contact info as a witness. The owner called back a few weeks later telling me his insurance company handled it. Hope someone is that good about it for me if I’m ever hit like that.

Yea, those sensors are pricey - that's why I paid up for the 10yr bumper-to-bumper

I was rear-ended in a minor fender bender and was able to just get a check for the damages. I was able to get an aftermarket steel offroad bumper for $50 out of pocket to me versus having the factory one replaced. :D

Several months later I was rear-ended again in an even more minor fender bender that literally just put several small scratches on the new steel bumper and I was able to get a check for that too!

Yes, C4 Fab not CBI. My mistake, sorry for any confusion. They are the only BSM compatable bumper.

My guess is that the insurance company will replace it to only it's original condition. But who knows.

Good luck OP. Glad there are honest folks out there that take responsibility for what they do.

Looks like you're gonna need a high clearance rear bumper to cover up that body damage. Check out Mobtowns. They will even install it!

I got hit in the same spot. I went with the fab fours and it cost almost exactly the same as what insurance gave me for the factory bumper
