If I remember correctly the cups were too deep and required a spacer on top of the uniball under the c-clip. Without that spacer the uniball floats in the cup a bit. The more I think about...they told us on TW that the deep cup was on purpose so the spacer is a necessity.

Your kings are most likely shot. I’ll take them.

all seriousness man, torque those LCA bolts down to (I think) 100 ft lbs - it sounds like your alignment tech didn’t do it. Almost makes it sound like the spring is shifting when those thing make noise.

Do you think it floating around in the cup could lead to this loose ride feeling???

I’ll retorque it but I had a total Toyota geek do it all for me last time at this shop because I didn’t have access to tools at the time, I’ll give it a try though.

Absolutely because that is exactly what it would be doing - the uniball would be sliding up and down inside the cup. It’s a serious issue and you prob should not drive it, if that c clip fails from being slammed by the uniball the uniball will eject itself. That is why I remember this issue it happened to guy after he left a shop.

Happened to me and drove me nuts for a while. I hope it’s an easy fix whatever it is. Always a pain to drop coin like that and have small nagging issues.

This can all be verified fairly easily with a visual inspection

Pretty sure that this photo he already posted verifies it. I’m not seeing the uniball race seated in the cup properly ?

Uniball was loose! I had to get a special tool to retorque it, the bolt in the middle just kept spinning. Hope it doesn’t come loose again because I had it torq to spec last time and after a few days that’s when I had this problem happen

They will self loosen, when the uniball is new and tight the bolt will turn when you turn the steering instead of the uniball but the nut won't turn. Very common and sometimes you will have to check it every couple days for couple weeks until the uniball breaks in.

Curious because what you described seemed like a lot more movement than just a slightly loose bolt - did you ever check for that spacer under the c-clip in the uniball cup ?

Bajakits hit me back and said that a spacer would not be able to work, for now, the front suspension feels very tuned now, that bolt was extremely loose and I can see why there was a significant amount of movement. I’ll keep you guys updated in this if I experience more issues

@Clifford12 From your response I don't think that you understood the potential issue with the Baja kits uniball cup on the UCA. Glad that you found your loose bolt but just want to make sure that you understand the issue that was being described. Baja Kits had a couple of issues previously with customers trucks self destructing while driving and there was a thread that was blowing them up pretty bad... They chimed in and said that their uniball cup uses a spacer ( that nobody else does ) between the uniball itself and the c-clip that holds the uniball in the uniball cup. It devolved into quite a TW verbal shit show with folks challenging the logic of the spacer as it seemed an unnecessary potential fit issue and failure point etc.

The first sketch shows a cut away view of a normal uniball cup with a uniball inside it and the c-clip that sits in the groove inside the cup to secure the uniball.

The second sketch shows what Baja kits was doing, if that spacer is not there movement will occur as the uniball slips up and down inside the cup and then the clip will fail.

Hi, it only happened on driver side UCA, no issues with the passenger side. It feels like it is happening again, what should I even say to Bajakits about it at this point?
