    Hello TW,

I think something is wrong with my 4x4 system. Long story short, so I thought I turned on the AC, but instead I switched it to 4h in a parking lot. Pulled the truck out and noticed that the steering was really difficult to turn. Switched it back to 2wd. Maybe this is relevant?

Anyways, normally while switching to 4Lo both my Auto LSD and traction light is on. Now while switching to 4Lo only my Traction light is on. Spent about an hour trying to get the Auto LSD light back on (like how it normally is). Any tips on how to get the system turned on? I'm afraid something went wrong.

I took out the battery to reset the computer. Nothing changed...

I drive a 2010 regular cab Tacoma 4x4. All stock.

Have you driven it since this happened? Sounds like your VSC (vehicle stability control) is turned off. You push and hold the button (veh with squiggly traction lines "off") for 3-5 seconds and this turns the VSC off. It will automatically turn back on after 30 mph. Or just push the button again to turn the VSC back on.

If your VSC system isn't turning back on then you may have a blown fuse. Given your confusion though between the A/C control and the transfer case switch, this may just be a case of operator error. Try pushing the VSC off button.

Have a good read of this thread if you haven't already.

Yes I driven the truck after the incident. I think I just confused the crap out of myself actually.

I can turn Auto LSD and trac off in 2wd.

I can turn off trac in 4h by holding down the trac off button (truck with squiggly lines)

In 4Lo my trac icon is always illuminated. Is the "auto lsd" light suppose to be on in 4lo?? Was it ever on? Or am I getting confused?

oh shit - you were talking about 4lo. In 4lo.. TRAC is off. You have no traction control or VSC in 4lo. All open diffs. Not even auto LSD. That's normal.

If you want auto LSD in 4lo, (which.... why wouldn't you?) do the yellow wire mod. search it. It's easy to do and well described here.

And if you didn't read that like I sent you, read it. It actually answers your questions. The VSC, TRAC, Auto LSD stuff changes in each mode (2,4hi,4lo) and it's not really common-sense. You need to read it to understand how it works, when it works, and your different options in each mode. You will likely have to read it every once in a while if you want to keep it all clear.

Auto LSD is only an option in 2WD when the case is in 4WD you won't see Auto LSD when you toggle traction/stability. So when you are in 4WD if you don't see the AUTO LSD light that is normal.
