My gf brother has a 98 taco and his ignition is having issues. The key wont turn... After awhile of messing with it he was able to get it to turn, but recently he hasnt been able to at all. Anyone know what would cause this and how to fix?

Is it with the original key? If not, try to find the original key and see how it does. Wiggle the steering wheel while turning the key. Spray a little WD40 in the switch.

It's on it's way out. Get a new ign switch. Pull off the dash cover. There is a button next to the switch. Push it in while turning the key, and pull the lock out. Reverse.

    It is the original key

I had a feeling I'd have to get a new one. How will the new one work with the existing key? Do you have a link to a new ignition. I have no experience with the 1st gens

The dealership can change the pins to match your old key, or you can just live with two keys. A locksmith might be able to do it too.
