We used to jump off the boat 50 miles offshore in 100+ feet of water to cool off...not so much anymore.

I'd be okay with that as long as my head doesn't go under.

lol yeah the fact that I live in the desert and didn't see the ocean till I was ~13 years old didn't help things.

Recently witnessed a kid get swept out when on vacation in Puerto Rico. It sucked watching from the 10th floor balcony and not being able to go help being a lifeguard. Somebody got out there and got him tho. Can be scary as hell, just gotta know what to do and as corny as it sounds dont panic.

Yeah i find that trippy that some people have never even seen the ocean before, but then again Here in Hawaii you can pretty much see the ocean from anywhere on the island especially if your high enough, most locals here love the ocean including myself, we learn to live and play and respect the ocean, plus over here their is so much things to do in the ocean, myself and almost all my friends are water men(i used to be, but slowly getting back to it) the kine were you have a fishing pole, fins and a mask, and a net in your truck at ALL TIMES just in case! Its so refreshing to swim in it after a day of working or first thing in the morning right before the sun comes up, plus its awesome for the body. LOVE THE OCEAN

I know now what to do, back then was scary, all i remember was this wave coming over the top of me and the next thing i know is i pop up like a cork, spinning like a top and heading out to sea.

Thats why its a good idea to watch the water for about 10-15 mins before you get in, then you get to watch the current and the rips before you get in, if you ever do get caught in a rip(we all have) just swim parallel to the beach and DONT PANIC cause you are safe.

I call bullshit. So your saying your were a man overboard case? If so I'm sorry you were that guy lol
Did you get your ass chewed and did you have to get rescued by a
    UH-60?

Plus lowering the elevators to allow swimming for a steel beach Its not allowed anymore at least not since I was in the navy in 2005 or when my brother in law was in 99. Maybe it's only allowed in peace time or something I dunno
