So I was out in Death Valley, hit a few trails and I nocked my (passenger) SPC UCA out of alignment. When I got home I put the truck on a jack and come to find out I have so much droop that my cv axle and uca joint are coming into contact with the springs.

first I thought my alignment was the cause of it, I tried to correct it temporarily by lining up to the old alignment markings but the excessive droop remains.

    any ideas?

Is the nut still on the top of the shock?

I thought about that, but nothing looks bent? Any idea how to tell if it isn’t obvious?

all nuts and bolts are still there.

I have a spacer on the driver side, I believe 1/4in? To offset the lean. Nothing on the passenger side.

Why does the shock shaft look like its at a angle to the rest of the strut? It looks like the shock piston got tweeked and is jammed full out.

I think it’s just the angle of the picture, at least in person it looks fine?

only the passenger side (side with no spacer) has the excessive droop.

Is the uca ball joint supposed to angle that much? Looks almost 90 degrees in pic

No, but It’s doing it as a result of excessive droop.

I have an appointment with an alignment shop. I guess that’s a start?

I’m not smart by any means. But I don’t see an alignment fixing that. If your alignment was off your tire must be leaned in toward the shock a metric shit ton.

Did you intentionally remove the sway bar end link? That on its own will allow for more droop.

Can you verify the part number on your shocks? It’s on the shock body itself. Have you had your suspension on there long? The only reason I ask is because there is a 5100 for a tundra that is longer than the Tacoma version but will still bolt in. It appears that you may have installed the Tundra 5100- at least it looks just like that when I’ve seen it in the past.

Not a mechanic, but it almost looks like you busted one of the CV joints. Look at the angle of the CV boots. Especially the upper CV joint.

Take a close look at the shock shaft near the shock body.

5100s have a little, welded on internal droop limiter. I've seem them break before, allowing for over extension of the shock. Usually, you can see evidence of the broken off limiter.

Alternatively, you could measure the shock shaft at full droop side to side and compare.

I’d there any way to tell if it isn’t noticeably bent?

i tried to fix the alignment my self for the meantime and nothing seems bent inward...

A rock.. going about 30mph :frusty:

doubt it, I’ve had these on for a while and this is the first time I see this.

i don’t think so? I only say that because it still pulls in 4wd. I imagine If it was busted I’d be able to hear it?

pretty hard, I hit a rock at roughly 30mph.. it was a small rock.. but Im guessing that makes no difference.

That’s a good idea, it’s pretty dark out now but I’ll definitely look it over in the morning.
