Yeah, you should be checking your plates every time you take a drive, even after you come out of a store. Tire pressure, oil level, headlights and signals too. LOL, those cops probably just felt dumb so they had to take it out on you.

Joking aside, I can't say that I've ever consciously looked for my plates. Of course our stickers go on the inside of the windshield here, so probably not as much incentive to steal the plates. I always back into spaces too, so if someone ever took my rear plate, I probably wouldn't notice for awhile either. I'd like to think I'd notice, but can't say for certain that I would. If a cop yelled at me for something so stupid though, I'd probably not have as much self control as you did; kudos.

The registration sticker goes on the interior, lower driver's side corner of the windshield in Texas. You might be able to see mine in my sig pic; little blue and white sticker. Much more gooder.

But we do have to run front plates.

I have seen a few things about ticketing vehicles for no front plate. I suppose they want to be able to
Im not running a front plate at the moment, however, I would use the same method.
This place may have everything, but it’s also a rabbit hole :D

Security screws, that’s a good idea. Those slotted plates are going to require a special tool. Hmmmm.

don't know what size you need but McMaster has 1/4-20 in Black Oxide. But you need to order 25.

I think you're better off with screws these days. Depressing to go in and see it tanking. My mom had me set up a phone app so she can check her portfolios whenever she wants. I swear to God it was the worst thing I could have done for her. She goes in and checks it every day and it affects her mood.

I say job well done. I like it!

and people will steal anything especially if they can use it.

It's highly unlikely to happen, and the plate would most likely be unusable. Some one could cut the license plate of with a pair of handheld cutters.

I know, I just wanted to lower the odds a bit and mount the plate a little neater. As soon as you scumbag-proof something they just build a better scumbag. Life and all.
