Sometimes I think Lightbars should be outlawed.

    I'm driving during lunch right...

Anyways. This Quicksand Tacoma passes me by on the on-coming traffic-side. The dude had like 8 SETS of F'ing LIGHT BARS!!!! One on the roof, two on the side mirrors, two in the fog light positions, two behind the "TRD pro" grille and one in the goddamn hood scoop!

The dude had all...f'ing... 8 light bars on! Granted it's daylight......but.. I mean it was so bright and distracting. How inconsiderate can someone be?

When I went camping two weeks ago, multiple vehicles had their lightbars on during the daylight while driving.

I have gone camping in more than a few remote forests. I have never thought to myself, "you know what would make this a better camping experience?..... A fucking light bar!"

Serious question. What is the actual function of a lightbar?

    I'm with you.

They look stupid and have no use on the road. In fact you can't use them on the road.

If I was trail riding with another truck at night and they were behind me with them on, I'd lose my shit.

well yeah that is ridiculous. but the purpose would be to light up what you can’t see with just your headlights.

Should you run them on road? No. Then again it’s not really any worse than people swapping headlights go HIDS / LEDS and blinding everyone…

Off road, very useful. 8 is excessive though. I run one bar and 2 pods. More than sufficient.

To provide brighter and more widespread light than the stock headlights and fog lights.

Where are you? I live in the Bay Area and the brodozers who rarely see anything but a city highway and surface streets love doing that kind of thing. It's like the new dick swinging contest, how many lightbars/lumens can you throw? Had a guy this morning who mounted two 2x2 pods center line above and below his bumper o_O.

We also have people around here who drive with their brights on, always. Better vision for them, blinding for you.

Yes! A making laws thread. I love these.

I vote we make some phrases illegal, like

    “At speed”

Or “I’m running ______ on my rig”

Quietly goes and cancels order for two 50” bars, two 30” bars, 8 D series pods and two 8” bars. I guess the whole close encounters of the third kind illumination isn’t cool any more?

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
I don't get it either. I just assume the whole lights on in the day time is some one with low self esteem and needs to try and get as many like on Instagram as possible. Personally, unless your a trophy truck running at 100 mph, I don't even see the need to have more than one light bar. But to each their own, if someone wants to spend 2k to have enough light output to light up a small town in Iowa, then by all means go for it. Hell half the time I forget I even have a light bar at night.

They already are outlawed (onroad). And if they're on, they should be reported to authorities. (yay dashcam).

But don't give me shit if I have some but don't have them on.

(gee, sounds like other things in our lives)

I’m pretty sure they are illegal in pretty much every state on the road. They are for Off-road use only. Just some people are extreme douche bags and think it’s cool to roll around with them on
