My 97 camry just left me stranded worked as designed earlier today

Ive traced it to the ignition switch i think

What pins do i need to put paper clips in to get this bitch to start

If i leave the key in woth the switch unplugged it gives me the door open chime but when i plug it in it turns off if that helps

In the on position nothing has power

And right now i put the key in *lock* it started dinging and than stoped i can get it to do the key in chime if i wiggle the key around

While its chiming the horn works

    4 run, 2 don't
Maybe someone has a moment to pull up Alldata and get a schematic or something

If i wiggle the key it starts chiming and the horn honks, so i believe its a bad ignition

Given it has an unknown amount of miles id expect its very high and has a worn ignition

i think the 96 Corolla beater i have is donning this situation or starting to
it failed to start one day and thought it was the starter, still original, but now its working and a non-issue until the next time it fails to start
battery is about 5 years old and has FF on the terminals
it has 132k of VERY heavy wear and tear onit

    Which body ground was it?

Edit: is it a strap or wire?

Maybe a long shot, but might get lucky with an open or no good fuse. I've seen fuses not blown that don't let the juice flow.
And then double check grounds and connectors with everything you've repaired, rebuilt, etc

well idk what it was from factory because the po cut it to put a different terminal to use a different battery

it was never attached since i got it so i have no clue how the car even worked

And the bolt for the ground wire from the batt to motor had 2 threads engaged

Now the ground situation is a lot better
