Good find Bob. :) I scoped it out from satellite and it looks like a nice place. I'm intrigued by those small Sierra lakes. It looks like once upon a time Coyote flat was accessible from Big Pine, but that road looks like it's not traveled anymore.

I feel like that trail would easily be doable in 2wd. I feel I've already done more then that before.

I also feel like we haven't yet agreed on a location. Are our options finally down to coyote flats and bristleone?

I think there are a number of places on the Eastern side of the Sierra. A bit farther North, the Bodie area is also worthy of consideration.

So, no one has really talked about a final destination lately. Is everyone still interested in doing this?

I was thinking that maybe if no one wants to go anymore to take the time I have of to finally do my Lt lift.

I'd like to but I won't be home until this weekend, I'm still in ND. Then I start school monday. Too soon for me to make anything but tentative plans.

I just took a look at the dates people suggested. Looks like we'd get more if the date were the 16th instead of the 23rd.

But either weekend, I'd be down. My personal preference is still Bristlecone Pine Forest.

Just got back from being OTG for two weeks. Seems like this thread is dying a slow death. Anyone still interested?

I think it's because there's another trip that no one's really replied to this thread.

I still plan to head over that way before Tioga Pass closes.

I've been looking at some spots from Bridgeport all the way down to Bishop.
I'm still thinking Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest though some things near Bodie area look attractive too :D

Wife is very pregnant, so I'm doomed. No camping for me for a while. I was glad to learn of Coyote flats though. seems like a great place.

So where is Bristlecone? I also have a buddy who's trying to get me to make a camping run to the north Yuba area near Downieville before the weather turns. I need to get ahold of him now that I'm back to civilization and see what his plans are.

Now there's a loaded statement if ever I heard one!

There are a couple ways to get there. Head down to Big Pine to take the paved road. Or take a left in Bishop and take the back way-which takes you almost to the visitor's center.

At one point we seemed to be trying for next weekend, but as interest in this run seems to have fallen off a cliff, I've gone ahead and made plans for the north Yuba area from the 6th through the 9th. I might be in for something on another weekend if it can come together.

I agree this has taken a turn fur the worst, so I'll go ahead and call this one off
