I know this may sound callous, but it’s my connection to the current tragedy playing out throughout NorCal at the moment; these fires have leveled many accounts for my family business. This fire may actually put us out of business. I recognize it’s not the same loss as losing ones home and hearth, but we have been in business since 1979.

A callous Dick. Which implies far too much manhandeling... which will only get more aggravated with less work to do.

Idle hands are the devils work, they say.

I totally inderstand what you mean. My neighbor has lost most of his key accounts(basically his income) in this fire. Although he may not lose his home in the fire, he is concerned he may lose it due to the fire. Very sad.

Still praying for the many people i know personally that weren’t as fortunate as i have been so far.

Same here for me and my parents business’s.

But I’ll cross that bridge if we get there. Fortunately I likely have another job I can get into fairly quick, but while we’ve been in business 30 years and made it through the fire, a lot of our customers have not.

Definitely changing a lot of lives directly and indirectly, for a lot longer time than the fire will last.

Anyone close to the upper Hidden Valley neighborhood in Santa Rosa? Not an emergency but I'm hoping I can get word on my parents' house.

Maybe one of us in town is close to that area and can try to access their street or can otherwise confirm if that area is affected or if it’s clear.

Feel free to PM me their address. I’m headed into town shortly.

Its by Chanate and Parker Hill...just got word that it is still standing. The backyard is smoldering but a fire crew from San Jose stood their ground and saved their home overnight.

Yeah. Not in the clear by any means. Most of their neighborhood is gone.

I’m sure they could’ve hitched a ride with anybody else in that area who saw them go off the road or otherwise try and get the hell out of dodge.

For all the tremendous losses we’re experiencing, it’s being fought with a great sense of community and humanity.

Hope they’re okay, would assume they are!

Geez I hope everyone ends up being okay.

Excuse me for being ignorant on this, but what is protocol for putting out fires like this? Do we wait out for the wind to stop? I read somewhere that the firefighters are busy helping people evacuate and other things and can't work on the fires yet. Does anyone else help out with this? I can't even imagine being in that position. Kudos to @ffdawson and all the other firefighters helping out

First effort was to get people evacuated. This is a bad fire so the have to choose their battles. There are 26 firefighters from San Jose actively working to protect structures in my parents' neighborhood so there is firefighting going on.

    In progress.... And getting better!
The air quality this morning was terrible. Below are 3 views from our deck looking the same direction. The view this morning, the normal view and one with a rainbow thrown in just for fun.

We send positive thoughts to all of our neighbors to the North who are having to deal with the true reality of this devastation.E9FC1361-AC3E-4EB7-9A67-FC038D29340A.jpgF05E56AB-9620-4419-A5C2-BF4C23915D5B.jpg A047992F-42B0-45F5-B477-704D1CB00832.jpg

This is still surreal. We've been camping out at the sonoma county fair grounds since 2:30am yesterday. Our neighborhood is still good, but we are cautiously optimistic. If winds pick back up like some are predicting, who knows. I've had my aunt lose her house, among with co-workers, friends and clients.

Cell reception has been horrible and internet access has been useless. Currently at a Starbucks to communicate with friends out of the area but I thought I'd fill you guys in too
