Ha! Whatever dude. You don't know me. I read the experiences of others, then I made my own conclusions. And I'm sorry that our conclusions were not the same.

    That's just how it is.

I had the rattle noise on the passenger side that seemed like it was coming from the near the speaker grate on the dash. Like you, it only seemed to appear on colder days. I asked the dealer about it at my 5k mile service and they heard it when they took it for a test drive. They figured out the issue was was the plastic from the A Pillar was rubbing together with the plastic from the speaker grate. They shaved down some of the plastic that's hidden under the dash and added some sound deadening material in the A Pillar. All fixed under warranty. Was quick, painless, and worked like a charm.

Oh boy, sounds eerily familiar like the old non-balanced drive shaft issue on the 2nd generation.

I thought about doing the same 2 years ago instead of waiting. However, I bought a 2005 when they first came out and had no issues other than having the rusty frame replaced. Right now, I'm debating buying a newer gen2 or waiting another year or two for Toyota to iron out some of the bugs with the existing gen3. I just didn't think there still be chatter on this forum about transmission shift issues and differential issues over a year later.

I'd agree with that perspective to some extent but still find it to be a lousy business model. Although, they are the number one selling truck in the mid-truck segment so they have a lot of wiggle room at this point especially if the 2016s sold more than any other year. On a side note, I've owned two GM pickup trucks in the past and both left a lot to be desired so there will be no returning to that brand for me. What other choices are there? Honda Ridgeline? :D

If it's a supplier / subcontractor issue with the vendor who is providing the rear diffs then you would think Toyota might issue a contract mod or ECP to tighten up or address the specs to resolve the noise issue.

Well if I were you I'd be pissed too because you are obviously getting hosed by your dealer. I get you and others have had issues but I've had a positive experience and I believe that prospective buyers need to see both sides of the coin. Who knows in 12 months I could be right there with you on here complaining about this or that broke and the dealer told me such and such crap excuse but until then I'm going to represent the positive experience I've had. Like the above poster said: agree to disagree.

Pretty sure l saw the manual breakdown, l wanna say it was seatbelt Mike saying he expected 7 or 8 percent but l have a feeling with all the auto complaints it may be slightly higher

A warranty is a nice "sleep well" thing to have, but it really sucks if you are constantly having to use it.
A bit off topic, but why is he called Seatbelt Mike?

I searched Google and came up with something about him saying a seatbelt buckle being the only carried over part? Is that it?

Random...but have you driven 88 from 188 to 60 in your truck? How was it? Kept it regular driving settings or..? I did it last month in the rental Kia Sportage AWD, and was interesting indeed. Was thinking the whole time if my truck would have given me more of a stable feel....keeping my skimpies cleaner in some spots...ha.

Thanks. Did it just randomly appear after awhile? I only have just over 1k miles on it since Nov. (short commute and work to much to hit the road as much as I want...trying to change that though). Anyway, I've had it for a few months now, so wondering what could have caused this so early. I do have bumpy city streets around me with pot holes which I'm not impressed with how much I feel each one, but is what it is since I apparently need to live with it or get out of the Tacoma game according to some. I'm actually trying to put a list of "shouldn't be like that vs normal" things for my first service trip to the dealer coming up at some point soon. Thanks again.
