I'll soon be getting a Pelfreybilt aluminum bumper and a Smittybilt winch. The combo should be around 110-120 lbs. Right now I'm running OME 887's (590 lb spring rate). Part of my reason in not going with steel was because I didn't want to mess with new springs after I've already made the switch from 885. However, it looks like maybe I'll need to? Is adding spacers a viable option instead? Right now I'm just running a 1/4 spacer on the drivers side. Is there any downside to strut top spacers (compared to running a higher spring rating) as long as it's under 3" and the CV angles are fine?

Here’s my current ride height, I suppose a little drop in the front wouldn’t hurt.

OME 884’s ,Dakar hd’s, Jba uca, lce header, 4.88’s, Arb locker , j shift tcase-T4R, arb bumper, leer topper, 3500w inverter, mad wife, scratched paint, skid plates, snorkelerer, led flush mount reverse lights, etc..
Put the bumper on then make the decision for yourself. When it comes down to it, you’re the only one who can decide if you like how your truck sits. You can swap out coils in a few hours as well by yourself so the $180 for new ones (if need be) isn’t outrageous. I’d stick with all coil if you wheel, there are springs to solve your issue.

I say hang the bumper and winch and let it "settle" for a few days then decide. Ive got 887s and a 3/8" spacer on the ds and 1/4" spacer on the PS. With my winch mount and winch and s/c components I'm just under 3" and the ride is GREAT.

Sweet! Yep I’ll wait it out and see where it sits. 886 sound way too rough for only ~100 extra pounds.

I posted this in a separate thread in the main forum, but probably helpful for you to see the difference between 600lb spring rate (Eibach's) versus 660lb spring rate (OME 886's) on my truck. I don't think the 886's ride harsh at all with the added weight up front. Ride is very smooth, even compared to the 590lb coils with no added weight.

Here's the difference... For reference, I have an ARB bumper & compressor with a larger group 31 battery, and no winch currently.

Before w/ 600lb spring rate - the truck sagged quite a bit and drivability suffered. Front end would nose dive upon heavy braking. Note that this set up was not old and worn out by any means... less than a year old and 6k miles on them before I added the bumper and accessories:

Sweet, thanks for posting here too. I think the ARB alone will be a little heavier than my setup, but still, it'll be noticeable. The 886's put you at a real nice height.

Ah, I completely missed that you said ALUMINUM. If you plan on adding skids, sliders, or other add'l weight my vote is still for the 886. If just bumper/winch, I think the 887 or even your 885's suffice.

EDIT: I'm blind. You clearly have sliders already.

Haha it's all good. I've got the 887's right now, so I'll see where I am and if I need to get strut top spacers (I'm guessing I'll be getting 3/8 and 1/4 like @Redsyota ). At least springs are "cheap" compared to other mods, right?

Honestly the only reason I would consider 886's is because I run no sway bar but it flexes and rides so well I'm hard pressed to change anything. I just looked back at my Wheelers order and it looks like I actually run a 1/2" spacer on the ds. I know that seems like alot but it rides good and I'm getting plenty good travel out of it (rubbing tops of my wheel wells just slightly even with super bumps and spacers.)
