I was thinking the same thing. It would be wild if another TW member had one with it missing.

I didn’t want to play devil’s advocate but that’s kinda the drift I got. This is basically impossible. To make it past all those eyes, to the first LOF?!?!?

Sorry, I want to make it clear, I don't want people to think I'm "dissing" Toyota or anything, obviously I didn't care about it back then when I first noticed it and I don't care about it now, I just thought it was more of a chuckle then anything. I came from a Chevy family and I had a BMW for 14+ years and I loved it, so I'm not really a "brand whore" kinda person... My wife's Rav4 saved my families life and was soooo dependable that when I looked at every other manufacture, it was a no brainer to go with Toyota (heck! I could have purchased a full sized truck for the price I bought the Tacoma haha!)

So again, I still have Toyota love unless something happens and you know I'll be back to cry about it :)

That's unacceptable no matter how you look at it. Just because "nothing happened" doesn't mean it's meaningless.

If those fell out and the engine ran dry, this unlucky customer would have been stuck with the repair bill....after having paid the price of a small house in the 1980s for a truck in 2022.

If producers around the world are gunna pretend the cost of everything has skyrocketed over night, they damn well build their shit well enough to justify the extortion we suffer as consumers.

Especially in communist Canada where our monopoly money is worthless and everyone is starving to death in Trudeau's hellhole.

It’s incredibly easy to fool inspection with bolt marks. And lotsa assemblers do it ahead of time anyway.

Hmm, that's a good question... Barrie they used salt because I used to drive on the Highway 400 and those huge salt trucks used to spray the salt hitting my car all the time haha

One thing I regret is I should have gotten this oiled right away and TWICE a year... The rust is already starting to form on a lot of the metal under the car. Its not critical bad, but some of the weld points, the front control arms, stuff like that...

I know that living in western Canada, we avoid eastern cars like the plague! They are total rust buckets from what we see. Hell, even the commercial vehicles that drive from the manufacturers to here in winter, suffer rust related issues compared to vehicles that arrive in the summer.

    I suppose.
but if a line of the bolt mark goes to the surface of the aggregate, frame, etc..How do explain it?

The gaskets still appear to have a little salt/corrosion on them even though you clearly wiped around them.

I’m on my phone at a bar, so please bear with me when I say that mark for torque/touch for quality are purely for marketing purposes and to convey quality processes. Like anything else, if you got the fuck-it’s & want to cover your tracks, those methods are easily skirted.

That’s why so many sets of eyes are on certain parts of the assembly process. An engine holding oil is a critical aspect of process control.

I don’t think OP is pulling our chain but no way do I buy this problem started in Alabama and made it here today

Wise advice right here... I oiled my BMW every year for the 14 years I owned it and it still looked like this (this is the best pic I could find, there was metal with holes in it.

Has nothing to do with being a Karen. They should be aware of this so they can prevent this, or something worse from happening again. Chances are if you make the dealer aware of this, no one that matters will ever be informed.

How big a tire can you fit before you hit the oil drain plug extension?

You should see the bolts that connect the front
I understand what you mean...after reading some of the comments posted here, I'm starting to think I should have told Toyota... BUT if I would have told the dealer/cooperate and they were to tell me that I did it/I took it to another shop that did it and I'm only doing it for attention, warranty, etc. this would infuriate me and probably taint my image of the company...I already have a bad taste in my mouth just inquiring if I could purchase the TRD Pro headlights separately before the truck was being built.

It seems like it was an isolated incident since I haven't seen anything else on the internet...when it happened I actually googled to see if this was how it was suppose to be (I knew it wasn't but hey Toyota engineers know better then me haha)

Well I'm hoping this thing lasts 25+ years, because I honestly cant think of being in another vehicle (plus I keep my vehicles a long time)

Relying on communication is not a viable and sustainable solution. Control of the components is preferable. If interested, check out Bolt Byte as a method we use.
    https://boltbyte.com/

design it out through design and process optimization.
